First, FOX cancelled Lone Star and then, ABC cancelled My Generation. Not wanting to be left out, NBC has now cancelled Outlaw. The Jimmy Smits series has ceased production but viewers will still be able to see the remaining episodes.
Outlaw follows a Supreme Court Justice (Smits) who decides to step down and go back to being a lawyer in order to fight injustices. The NBC series also stars Carly Pope, David Ramsey, Jesse Bradford, and Ellen Woglom.
The series debuted following the season finale of one of NBC’s biggest shows, America’s Got Talent, and could only attract moderate ratings. In its regular Friday night timeslot, Outlaw’s ratings have gone from bad to worse. This past Friday, the show hit a new low in the 18-49 demographic with a 0.9 rating and fell to just 4.10 million viewers. It was in last place in both categories.

As we previously reported, NBC shut down production last week, supposedly wanting to wait to see if viewership got better in later weeks. If that was actually the case, they didn’t wait very long. Outlaw has been cancelled and the cast and crew won’t be returning to production.
For the time being, NBC will fill the 10pm timeslot with an expanded edition of Dateline. The four remaining episodes of Outlaw will be seen on Saturday nights starting on October 16th. An episode won’t be seen on October 30th because of a previously schedule Shrek special. The last episode of Outlaw will air on November 13th.

I cancelled it a few weeks ago. Should have cancelled it as soon as a staff member blurted out she had a crush on Smits. Gave it another week and when it became clear that was the best idea they had come up with decided it was time to move on. NBC should have read the scripts instead of stopping after they saw Jimmy Smits name attached to it. Tells you how bad the show was that even with Smits they stuck it on Friday night. They knew it would sink even quicker on any other night.
I loved the show…So sorry to see that it was cancelled. Very disappointed.
This is by far a great show!! Please leave it on or if you feel their are not enough viewers pick a different day such as Wednesday.
Too bad it was on Friday night.. a bummer TV night.. It was one of the best new shows

How STUPID!!! I am a big fan of Tom Selleck, but it got boring watching his new show, and watching OUTLAW was really very nice. To see a show that made me THINK and ENJOY was a real kick!!! Jimmy Smits is a very good actor! AND good supporting cast. BRING IT BACK!!!

LOVED the show & Jimmy Smits — we looked forward to watching it every Friday night. We are very, very disappointed that it was cancelled so fast. NBC, that was a very bad decision on your part!! So listen up: bring back the show on like a Wednesday night or Saturday night when there is not so much competition!
has nbc lost its everloving mind? canceling outlaw? this was the only reason i ever turn nbc on is because jimmy smits was back on tv. it was intelligent television for once in a long time. ignorant ignorant strategy on nbc muckety mucks part didn’t even give it a chance on saturday night . i will never watch nbc and i will boycott the products during the last 4 episodes. and shrek who the heck cares about shrek. its been out for years. i hate you nbc. no brains over there that’s why fox is the now network.
What a complete disappointment! I think that was a really good show and actually one of the few worth watching these days. NBC, I think you just did s horrible job marketing it. It was only because I saw it in the guide that I even knew it was coming on and the name “outlaw” gave no indication of what the show would actually be. THAT SUCKS!!! Yal canceled the wrong show. Outlaw was actually good. I was looking forward to watching it tonight. I only watch two things on friday night and that’s Smallville and Outlaw. Guess I can start going to sleep earlier now. BRING OUTLAW BACK!!! BRING OUTLAW BACK!!! BRING OUTLAW BACK!!!
DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW!!! I love Jimmy Smits in this series. It was the best part of Friday night. Think this through, don’t do it. Give it another season and then decide.
my goodness…OUTLAW canceled is a mistake. Come on, give me a break. Was totally into the show and now what will I watch at 10pm on a Friday night. Bring it back please.
