After some very lackluster ratings, NBC is shutting down production on Outlaw. Is it the next to be cancelled?
The Outlaw TV show follows the crusades of a Supreme Court Justice (Jimmy Smits) who decides to step down and go back to being a lawyer to fight injustices. The NBC series also stars Carly Pope, David Ramsey, Jesse Bradford, and Ellen Woglom.
Outlaw debuted via a special preview on Wednesday September 15th, following the season finale of America’s Got Talent. The series premiere was reasonably sampled with a 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 10.68 million viewers.
In its regular timeslot a week and two days later, episode two attracted only a 1.1 rating in the demo and 4.89 million total viewers. Last Friday, Outlaw garnered only a 1.0 rating and 4.72. Though expectations are lower on Friday nights, this performance is terrible.
NBC has now shut down production of the series while execs mull over how to proceed. They supposedly want to see how the series performs over the next couple weeks but there’s no reason to expect that the numbers will get any better.
Eight episodes of Outlaw have been produced and five haven’t aired yet. While it seems likely that NBC will air them all at some point, it seems even more likely that Outlaw will be cancelled soon.
What do you think? Do you watch Outlaw on NBC? Do you think the show could be saved? What would you change?

Our whole family & friends are very disappointed with the cancelation of outlaw. It is a great show especially jimmy Smits, he is an excellent actor . His character is intelligent,
and very powerful. maybe if you air it at a different day and time the ratings will go up. what is wrong with you guys @ NBC ? does it have to be the same drama that every other network
has so that you can consider the show and support it. have you ever consider any publicity for the show????? that will be nice .

I enjoy the show. I think that Jimmy Smits and cast do a great job. I hate to see it pull. Numbers don’t lie if ratings are low but I would hate to see it go. I really enjoy that upcoming series.
Okay, I not in the right age group..but how about letting the rest of us have a show we like!! Loved this show and I am so sick of getting vested in a show only to the the powers that be cancel it after a few episodes. This show is timely, well written and thought provoking!…and NOT a reality show!! Can’t we have a little old-fashioned drama for a change!! If NBC can’t handle it, put it on a cable network..those shows seem to do well in those venues!!!
Love the show. Give it some time . sdo many new show hit at the same time. Actors very good.
I love the show. It is nice to have a great show on Friday nights.
It’s cancelled. NBC pulled it
I really enjoy Outlaw. So many new shows that I loved were cancelled last season so I’ve been replacing them and here they go cancelling my favorites again. Did anyone else notice that there were no new medical shows this season? Last fall/spring we had so many with Mercy and Miami Medical etc. and this season it’s all about law/crime dramas. All the networks need to not create new shows with the same concepts at the same time and then maybe some of the shows would survive.
I love this show. Being on on Friday nite @ 9 is unfair. This is the one show that my husband looks forward to each week. Please, please don’t let them cancel it!
It’s refreshing to watch an intelligent, thought provoking program. It deals with real current events that are quite recent. We missed the first 3 live episodes and have had to view them via FIOS Encore. Please don’t forget to count this viewership into your statistics when making your decision – NOT to cancel the series. The current time slot is congested with good programming. We are now DVRing 2 shows while watching a 3rd live.
I love the show, dont just cancel it before the season is over…..what does NBC know, they dont watch it…..the veiwers do….i say keep it…it tells real stories that do happen in the real world
I love this show. I think it’s the best show of the new season. However, I would develop the supporting characters a bit. As good as Jimmy is in this role, one person cannot carry a series.
please do not cancel really good show
I agree with many of the comments to move the Outlaw series
to a different time slot other than against Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck. Not fair! Tell me, does the ratings include folks
that record the show and watch it at another time??? It is a great series, with great acting. We have always liked Jimmie Smits. Give it a chance!
I love this show. It will be disappointing to see it cancelled while we are fed more reruns of the office.
We love “Outlaw.” It’s smart, timely, interesting, and well-acted. Does everything have to be either a crime show or a reality show? Give us intellectuals something to enjoy!
