NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

i think that there should be a season two..i mean how can u just leave them on a boat on level two and not tell us whats going to happen?? and now janet’s husband is stuck inthe same hotel janet was in..and her husband’s girlfriend is still stuck in a cage..come on man!! make a second season!
I hate to say it, but bull ****, all the questions were not answered, quite the opposite, in fact. *spoiler alert* we know there is a program… run by scary sinister people we know somehow Janet is “special” and her mother cut a deal with the people involved in the program which resulted in Janet being inducted. Other than that, we dont know really anything, about the program’s purpose, means, end goal or who the people are running it other than a single 2 minute segment spent at a board meeting in the final episode where still nothing is explained… Read more »

Maybe it got poor ratings because it was never advertised enough. I just happen to catch it flipping through the channels. I absolutely loved this show!! Just like the rest of the panel, I was hooked!! Try it another season; this show was something that people have longed for…nothing was predictable and everything was fresh!! I set my TiVo because I would just die if I missed a episode. Please bring it back!!
Please, more of this show, my husband and I love it! I am intrigued with the second level the new characters and old ones were taken to, and I would LOVE for this show to continue! It is awesome!
I really really enjoyed this mini series and would love for there to be a second season. To be honest, I’d be so disappointed if they decided to not continue with the series. I’m anxious to see what happens on level 2 of the program

I’m really curious about the level 2 (but I have some trouble to imagine what their lives could be… where they are) and what we saw with the other group (but that creates a lot of characters… too many :/).
I hope they don’t let us like that… Too many questions, and I’m sorry but I don’t understand all of the group goals :p

Come on, ya can’t leave us wondering what happens next with level 2, I have never really gotten in to many shows over the past 4-5 years and this is one of my favorites I have watched it since the beginning and this can’t be the end!!
OMG!!! Persons Unknown had brought my family closer with each and every episode…We met religiously to watch it on demand and we always had a mouth full to talk about when each episode ended! It’s so sad that it’s being pulled, we were looking forward to season 2…or should I have said, “Level 2″….I swear we were screaming like if we were at the playoffs or something!!! The end was AWESOME!!! It’s a wonderful show and I really wish it comes back, even if it’s just for one more season!!! PLEASEEEE!!!!! =)
YES YES YES! i want a second series i would totally watch it! there are so many of my questions that were left unanswered, and the last 2 episodes created so many more questions on top of that! SEASON 2 is a MUST! 🙂
I feel that nothing was really answered..if anything I had more….who the guys with the long white hair talking to Madame Director, what is going to happen to Joe because Janet’s husband knows everything, and What about level 2!!!!! They NEED to do a second season

Persons Unknown was an excellent series. We were riveted to the story line. I do not feel that all questions were answered. You left us with the cast at level 2 and a new set of participants. What exactly will be happening? You left us hanging! We want to see a conclusion to this. This series MUST return!! You’ve got us hooked!
i really love that double character who is the director and the crazy lady killer – i want a 2nd season just for her!!!
