NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

I love this show so much; it is my favorite thing to watch on television! I watch it on Hulu all the time; it makes me so sad that there might not be a second season!!!

First off I would have to agree with everyone by saying this was the BEST show! My boyfriend and I have watched MANY series and this was the best we’ve seen by far! We are very hard to please when it comes to series tv but we can definatly say this show has GREAT potential as long as they don’t go on the same path as “LOST”. I would really like to see Persons Unknown return. I have to agree with the previous posts, it was left with too many questions for it to just end now. It was a refreshing new style show that I welcomed watching every week and I set the DVR to record each time! It’s nice to allow your mind to go to “another place” and actually get in character and care about what happens next. Persons unknown, woow this must really be one of a kind shows. It had a mix of genres, well it was really amazing, i hope you guys make a second, third season. episode 13 ended so …. sudden. And the story isnt finished. The characters all reached lvl 2, the ex husband meets the “kidnapper” and new people in the first hotel. it was getting sooo good.

By far best show EVER! i missed few episoids and bought them off i tunes! I’ve never been sooo captive by a show I realy dont watch much T.V.! I would not miss a episoid of this EVER!!!!!
Wow, so many smart people all in one place. I agree with the comments above especially DiGi who said the CSI and hospital shows are the same story with different actors. The only thing I didn’t like is “all will be revealed” because at the end of summer it was not revealed. But Persons Unknown has great potential.
I hope NBC will have a season 2 . Persons unknown was the best thing this summer. My daughter and I watched every show. I really liked all the characters. The ending just leaves you hanging, wanting more answers. Please please please bring it back.
I was hooked on “Persons Unknown” from beginning to end. Like julie said, it was a nice change from the drivel that prime time television has been spewing out. After watching “Harper’s Island” last year, a show I loved by the way, I’ve been waiting for something as interesting all year. Between the twenty different CSI’s, NCIS’s, and hospital dramas, I’ve been extremely bored; they’re all the same stories with different actors…
Great series, please continue it! It would be a real let-down id NBC took it off the air.
My husband & I were really hooked on this show, if we were’t home to watch it… better believe the dvr was recording it! “Persons Unknown” is a welcomed change to the stuff that is being put on tv, PEASE on continue to make more episodes! Once you watch it, your hooked & keep watching to see what happens next….
I loved the series. I was a huge Twilight Zone fan growing up and every episode captured my imagination the same. Please continue the series!!

There are some great comments here and I have to agree. There were not nearly enough answers to make that finale complete. Especially the end which could have been the beginning of the premiere for season 2 of this great show. After some other series that have ended horribly or have been snuffed before their time, one would think that the people responsible for making shows for us, the fans, would be more diligent in making sure that when a claim of “All will be revealed” is made, that by the end all is actually revealed.
