This may be the one problem that Ray Donovan can’t fix. Showtime has decided to cancel the Ray Donovan TV show, opting not to renew it for an eighth and final season.
Ray Donovan stars Liev Schreiber, Alan Alda, Zach Grenier, Jon Voight, Dash Mihok, Eddie Marsan, Pooch Hall, Kerris Dorsey, and Graham Rogers. The series centers on professional fixer Ray Donovan (Schreiber), who’s working to be the man his family needs him to be. While he makes progress with Dr. Amiot (Alda), there are dangers from the past that require the Ray Donovan of old. Between NYC mayor Ed Feratti (Grenier), an unrelenting NYPD officer hunting for the truth and clients old and new, Ray struggles to find the balance between fixing for clients and fixing himself. And when Feratti’s corruption brings a piece of Mickey’s past (Voight) back to New York, Ray is forced to seek answers to long-buried questions.
The seventh season of Ray Donovan averaged a 0.13 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 932,000 viewers. Compared to season six, that’s down by 21% in the demo and down by 3% in viewership.
During this year’s winter TCA press conference, Showtime boss Gary Levine suggested Ray Donovan could be coming to an end. He said, “I think Ray Donovan is nearing the end of its run. We always talked about seven or eight seasons. Nothing has been decided yet but it’s fair to say it is nearing the end.” Schreiber suggested that fans of Ray Donovan urge Showtime to renew the show for season eight.
“After seven incredible seasons, Ray Donovan has concluded its run on Showtime,” the cable channel said in a statement. “We are proud that the series ended amid such strong viewership and on such a powerful note. Our deepest thanks go to Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, showrunner David Hollander and the entire cast and crew, past and present, for their dedicated work.”
The seventh season finale, which aired on January 19th, left viewers with a cliffhanger for a series finale.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Ray Donovan TV show? Do you think that Showtime should have ordered an eighth season or, at least some sort of wrap up for the series?
just keep dumping showtime.every ray donovan fan needs to pick up the phone and get rid of them.i have read revery post on numerous sites and there is an incredible amount of outrage.i think we are on our way to something very good.either the return of ray or thousands of people dismissing showtime.great job.this is not justified.just check the ratings.while they are not as good as past seasons, still not bad.keep up the good work ray donovan fans
Ray Donavan is one of the best dramas on TV and it’s a shame that Showtime would cancel it! I’m fed up with great programming like this being replaced with brainless game shows and reality crap!
Awful decision to cancel Ray Donovan . Would love to see a season 8
Great show, we need season 8!
If not an entire season, it at least needed an ending! No reason to just drop it as if it were the season finale, not the series finale.
I hope RD is picked up via HULU or even USA network. The loser here is Showtime, which I’m sure many will drop because of the RD issue. SHOWTIME IS THE LOSER, definitely!!!
I am so disappointed in Showtime. RAY DONOVAN is one of the best shows on the air. The cast, brilliant, and the acting, impeccable! At least Showtime can give it the respect it deserves — wrap up the storyline, please!
Yes one more season was warranted. Us viewers should have had warning this was last. Give us back our fabulous cast. They each gave 100%.
It was the right time. The show was nothing like it was in the beginning. How many times can Ray get beat up
one more season would have been great, I loved the show !
I have watched Ray from the very beginning. My wife and I couldn’t wait for Ray on Sunday night. This is the only show that took me away from Sunday night Football. We couldn’t miss it. How can you not come back and give this awesome show a proper ending. I hope another network picks up Ray. This is terrible and Showtime should be ashamed of themselves. You just screwed all of your faithful viewers. Thanks a lot.
This is such a bummer. Please give these richly developed characters and the actors who portray them the ending they deserve.
Yes we need a 8th season to wrap everything up. I hate shows that just leave their fans hanging and wondering what happened. Longtime fan but getting tired of showtime doing stuff like this maybe time to cancel showtime if they can’t finish out their shows! Just bad business. Very unhappy customers.
Do not cancel day donovan!
Canceled Showtime. No further need for it sadly.
I was a late comer to discover this show. Shocked I’d never heard of it prior. But it’s seriously one of the best shows I’ve seen. To end it is a travesty….to end it with a cliff hanger and no resolution is f*cked up. Don’t you know us girls need closure!!! Lol 😉
We will miss the heck out of Ray Ray…oh what to do on Sundays anymore geeze….
What!!! No way. Need a season 8!!!!
