Lifetime has decided to cancel their original sitcom, Rita Rocks, after two seasons.
Rita Rocks revolves around an overworked wife and mother who tries to balance the many different aspects of her life, including being in a local rock band. The series stars Nicole Sullivan in the title role with Richard Ruccolo, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Natalie Dreyfuss, Kelly Gould, and Raviv Ullman rounding out the cast.
The show was initially ordered as a companion for reruns of Reba with an eye towards amassing enough episodes to run it five nights a week.
The series debuted in October of 2008 with a 20 episode season. In March 2009, Rita Rocks was renewed for a second season of 20 more installments.

JoAnn Alfano, executive VP for entertainment at Lifetime, said, “Rita Rocks is the first original comedy that Lifetime has launched in 10 years, so you can imagine how delighted we are to welcome it back for a second season. It’s smart, it’s funny, and it appeals to anyone who has ever tried to carve out a little time for herself.”
The second season kicked off in October but apparently wasn’t successful enough for Lifetime. The cable channel has opted not to renew Rita Rocks for a third season. The December 7th episode will end up serving as both the season and series finale.

I just found this show on Netflix, and just finished season 2, totally blows though, I was searchin for season 3 and to my horror I just saw the show was cancelled!! WTF!?!
I cant believe its canceled. How can you she have a new baby and then we can not see him grow up!
It was my new favorite comedy. Lifetime blew it!!!! They had such a good thing!!! I don’t like the direction comedy shows are going. Comedy is not always about some weird thing that a character does!!!! I am only 40 and I am wondering whatever happen to the good old days????
Rita Rocks is a great show…so of course they got rid of it. Why? It was hilarious. I was looking forward to them having a baby in the house. I usually know if I like a show it will be cancelled. Who runs that place?

This was a very good tv show and very safe for the family, rating went down but nothing that some adjustments couldnt fix. Very wrong call.
I too am very disappointed that Rita Rocks and Sherri Shepherd’s show has been cancelled. What does it say when quality shows can’t get renewed and all on tv is reality shows. Give our children something we can watch as a family and laugh together.
The show was great, I was just looking for the third season and now upset cause I am finding out there isnt one. Why do they always, cancel the good shows? Oh that’s right cause if it doesnt make enough money for them, they dont care what we like. Sorry forgot about that.
I have been checking religiously on the tv guide looking for rita rocks!! and now i just seen this posting of it being cancelled…im so sad! I love Rita ROcks!!! they always take off the good shows…who gives a crap about reality tv anymore..ya know?? its not REAL!!! its all scripted…so i was happy to have rita rocks to look forward to… not cool! 🙁
