AMC has decided to cancel Rubicon after one season of 13 episodes.
Billed as a conspiracy thriller, Rubicon is set in a government intelligence agency where nothing is as it seems. The cast includes James Badge Dale, Dallas Roberts, Jessica Collins, Christopher Evan Welch, Lauren Hodges, Arliss Howard, and Miranda Richardson.
The TV show was previewed back in June and attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.07 million viewers. When the series officially kicked off in August, the demo dropped to a 0.3 rating with 1.9 million viewers. The demo dropped to a 0.2 after that and the whole season averaged a 0.3 rating and 1.25 million viewers.
That wasn’t enough for AMC to want a second season and the cable channel has now cancelled the series.
Of the cancellation decision, AMC released the following statement, “Rubicon’ gave us an opportunity to tell a rich and compelling story, and we’re proud of the series. This was not an easy decision, but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a phenomenally talented and dedicated team.”
The 13th and final episode of Rubicon aired on October 17th.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that it’s been cancelled? What would you liked to have seen in season two?

Just learned there won’t be a second season of Rubicon. How very sad such an intelligent, well written show with a superb cast will not be back. And I’d been spreading the word to friends to watch for it. Suppose there’s no reconsidering, AMC?
Unfortunate. It was a series with intelligence (intended) and interesting characters.
great show, extremely disappointed its canceled. not much else to say, wish amc would change their mind.
‘The Event’ returns and ‘Rubucon’ disappears. There’s no justice nor reason.
I just caught the first episode of this amazing series and I’m saddened to hear that it has been cancelled. Maybe the timing of the original launch was off. I am so looking forward to seeing the episodes they did film. Maybe if these rebroadcast episodes of the series do well, AMC will consider bring it back.
I missed about 7 of the programs in the beginning but watched the last 6 I think. I loved it and am so sorry to see it go. I hope I can catch up before the finale.
That is totally correct watcher.
The Heads of “Entertainment” in the US don’t want people to ask too many questions regarding these issues…
They cancelled Rubicon because it hit to close to Home.
False Flag Terrorism is very real.
Damn it. I liked this show and was looking forward to seeing it again this summer. It was slow moving but not boring. Why does show have to be all action? Tired of that. I would like PBS to pick this up as part of the “Mystery” series.
I’m sorry to see this one go. It was a thrilling show that kept you guessing in every episode, unlike almost every other mystery show on TV now. A shame, with the most successful shows being American Idol and Amazing Race, America only continues to prove it’s lack of intelligence and taste.
Dreadfully disappointed, Rubicon was the most thought provoking show on TV. This was one of the few shows I would look forward to, not for its flash, for the deep dialogue and required attention to the show’s details. It’s too bad middle America is so lazy that any show without cheap thrills and moronic surface level comedy fails after one season.
Horrible loss AMC – you should have taken the hit for your viewers, thus strengthening your own integrity for producing quality TV.
I was just in front of my computer and was wondering when Rubicon was going to continue and was very disappointed to find the show was cancelled. I thought it was one of those special shows that one can’t get enough of.
I just can’t understand why you would cancel a show like Rubicon that made me think and think. Sorry it wasn’t another “24” These people actually had family and their own lives were falling apart. Bad mistake AMC, bad mistake.
This was one of the best shows on TV. Compelling characters, intruiging situations, real depth and pathos. What superficial AMC execs pulled the plug on this wonderful series. What better do they expevt to replace it with? I finally had a reason to watch AMC, which I had not bothered to watch at all up until now. We faithfully watched this show despite the crummy cable transmission of AMC (compared to other cable channels). AMC has just lost a viewer.
SEEMS AS THEY CANCEL THE GOOD ONES WITH THE MOST TALENTED WRITERS AND ACTORS…A REAL LOSS SORRY, ITS NOT GOING TO SHOW PLEASE KNOW IT WAS GREAT , MY HUSBAND AND I LOVED IT , I’M TRULY KNOW THERE ARE IDIOTS AT THE TOP LEVEL OF THIS COMPANY. LANA
