AMC has decided to cancel Rubicon after one season of 13 episodes.
Billed as a conspiracy thriller, Rubicon is set in a government intelligence agency where nothing is as it seems. The cast includes James Badge Dale, Dallas Roberts, Jessica Collins, Christopher Evan Welch, Lauren Hodges, Arliss Howard, and Miranda Richardson.
The TV show was previewed back in June and attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.07 million viewers. When the series officially kicked off in August, the demo dropped to a 0.3 rating with 1.9 million viewers. The demo dropped to a 0.2 after that and the whole season averaged a 0.3 rating and 1.25 million viewers.
That wasn’t enough for AMC to want a second season and the cable channel has now cancelled the series.
Of the cancellation decision, AMC released the following statement, “Rubicon’ gave us an opportunity to tell a rich and compelling story, and we’re proud of the series. This was not an easy decision, but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a phenomenally talented and dedicated team.”
The 13th and final episode of Rubicon aired on October 17th.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that it’s been cancelled? What would you liked to have seen in season two?

Very sorry to hear that Rubicon has been canceled. It was such a good series – great writing and story line. Rubicon and Fringe have been the 2 best shows on TV in the past couple of years. Both shows have been super extremely fascinating – television viewing at its best! I hope AMC or another network will bring Rubicon back!!!
We dearly enjoyed the twists and turns in this show and were eagerly awaiting season 2. It is sad times for television when a smart, scripted drama cannot find a large enough audience, and yet “Paralyzed and Pregnant” can.
Bring back Rubicon!
Totally agree with all the comments above this was the thinking man’s 24. AMC, please please bring it back.
wow! I just learned about the cancellation. I cannot beelieve it. I loved this show. It made me think.
can’t we get it back like th folks did with
eureka?
Given our choices for intelligent, thought provoking TV shows, I was so disappointed to see Rubicon cancelled. I actually looked forward to Sunday nights. It was so great, I love puzzles and this show certainly had a lot of them. I would find myself watching the episodes again to try to figure out what was happening. Who was trustworthy, who was not. As one person commented here – this probably was too close to what really happens. Remember “The Manchurian Candidate”? Let’s try to create some series that do not have to show someone having sex with another person each… Read more »
My husband and I have been eagerly awaiting Season Two and this was bad news — this was hands down the best show on television, and one of the best new shows we have seen in a long time.
I can’t believe Rubicon has been cancelled. AMC what are you thinking? It’s a unique series, thought provoking, suspenseful … anticipate each and every episode. Hopefully another network will pick it up. :=(
I think not having a season two is ludicrous.
Rubicon is/could be the greatest mini series to hit the air waves in a very long time.
What an unfortunate decision. Rubicon is a great show and I always looked forward to watching it.
This was a great show and a really stupid decision by AMC.
This show was different. My husband and I looked forward to watching it together to try and figure out what was going to happen. The cast members were great. The plot thickened with each new episode. It seemed to paint a different picture of our government and how we, as ordinary people, see it. Or, should I say, what we are allowed to see. I think maybe some of the actions were based on true occurances. Maybe someone “higher up” thought we were learning to much about things we should know nothing about…maybe. Of course this is just my “ordinary… Read more »
i’ve been waiting for season 2 to end so i could purchase the entire season at once. i guess that’s the diadvantage of going to sea for a living. what was amc thinking rubicon was the only tv series to make the viewers think in about 20 years. sorry to see it go but i guess the empty heads in this society are winning
I am very disappointed that the show was cancelled. I have been waiting for the new season to start. There are only a few shows I really enjoyed and this was one of them. Maybe you (the network) will have a change of mind.
This decision shows that AMC is as stupid and short sighted as FOX, CBS and other networks. This was a great show and deserved another season. Instead they keep crap like Mad Men and Walking Dead and show bad movies, but they cancel a great series. Did you import your staff from CBS?
One of the most thought provoking series I clearly looked forward to. I do not watch a lot of t.v. but I feel as a viewer I was not in the realm of the tv decision makers. WHAT A SHAME. AMC bigwigs are truly beancounters!!!!!!!!!!!
