AMC has decided to cancel Rubicon after one season of 13 episodes.
Billed as a conspiracy thriller, Rubicon is set in a government intelligence agency where nothing is as it seems. The cast includes James Badge Dale, Dallas Roberts, Jessica Collins, Christopher Evan Welch, Lauren Hodges, Arliss Howard, and Miranda Richardson.
The TV show was previewed back in June and attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.07 million viewers. When the series officially kicked off in August, the demo dropped to a 0.3 rating with 1.9 million viewers. The demo dropped to a 0.2 after that and the whole season averaged a 0.3 rating and 1.25 million viewers.
That wasn’t enough for AMC to want a second season and the cable channel has now cancelled the series.
Of the cancellation decision, AMC released the following statement, “Rubicon’ gave us an opportunity to tell a rich and compelling story, and we’re proud of the series. This was not an easy decision, but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a phenomenally talented and dedicated team.”
The 13th and final episode of Rubicon aired on October 17th.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that it’s been cancelled? What would you liked to have seen in season two?

Yeah, that sucks. I was looking forward to Season 2.
Another terrible decision by network executives. AMC seems destined to kill the golden goose. They can’t even leave their “flagship” series (Mad Men) alone. But ‘Rubicon’ deserves another shot with a Season 2. I’ll agree it was slow and a even a bit confusing at moments, but it had an intelligent theme to it. Quality programming for those of us older that 17 seems harder and harder to find.
I was really looking forward to seeing where this incredible story line would go from where it left us. I was totally enthralled by this intriguing show. I would sit in rapt attention, not wanting to miss any of the nuances, literally leaning in toward the tv so I could catch every clue. I consider this to be a very disappointing loss. It was intelligent entertainment at it’s finest, and I wish they’d reconsider this error in judgment.
Liz – I agree. I found myself ‘DVR’ing’ the show so I could watch it when the house was quiet and I could hear every line of the script. I too am very disappointed.
Disappointed!
We are so bummed! This is my husband’s favorite show! Please reconsider. Maybe you need to market it better.
Man I think it is a bad decision. We loved and were really excited about another season. But it seems like this is what happens to really intelligent shows. Put it back and let it roll one more time, it might just make it. Look at Seinfeld.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE RENEW (RUBICON) It is written Intelligently, Cleverly and Suspensefully as well as it’s superb acting cast 🙂
Please, Please, Please RENEW (Rubicon) as it is right up there with the better (Intelligently) written TV Series. I looked forward to ever single episode with eager anticipation. It’s a CLEVER & Suspenseful story. As well, as superb acting !
May I say again; PLEASE RENEW this fulfilling series 🙂
What an awful decision…it amazes me that Breaking Bad hasn’t been canceled seeing as how the viewer numbers were very similar to Rubicon. Hopefully DirecTV will pick it up like they did with Damages. Actually, I think those are probably three of the four shows I even care to watch regularly.
Unbelievably upset that there will be no season 2. One of the best shows in 2010! Please keep it going
That is a real shame….
Had a great story, acting and cinematography.
Rubicon was too intelligent for AMC to keep for all the dumb viewers.
Rubicon was a great show. I’m really disappointed it was cancelled.
Dam you AMC. This was a brilliant series. Why do you guys catch on such nonsense to cancel a great tv series. very dissapointed and sad. please bring back Rubicon.
That really sucks!!! I was hooked on this and DVR’d every episode! I even got my 80yr old Mom hooked on it.
