AMC has decided to cancel Rubicon after one season of 13 episodes.
Billed as a conspiracy thriller, Rubicon is set in a government intelligence agency where nothing is as it seems. The cast includes James Badge Dale, Dallas Roberts, Jessica Collins, Christopher Evan Welch, Lauren Hodges, Arliss Howard, and Miranda Richardson.
The TV show was previewed back in June and attracted a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.07 million viewers. When the series officially kicked off in August, the demo dropped to a 0.3 rating with 1.9 million viewers. The demo dropped to a 0.2 after that and the whole season averaged a 0.3 rating and 1.25 million viewers.
That wasn’t enough for AMC to want a second season and the cable channel has now cancelled the series.
Of the cancellation decision, AMC released the following statement, “Rubicon’ gave us an opportunity to tell a rich and compelling story, and we’re proud of the series. This was not an easy decision, but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a phenomenally talented and dedicated team.”
The 13th and final episode of Rubicon aired on October 17th.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that it’s been cancelled? What would you liked to have seen in season two?

Wow, I can’t believe AMC is not going to renew “Rubicon” ! What is wrong with these networks… stupid shows like Jersey Shore get renewed, but when something creative and interesting is finally aired it gets the ax. It’s really not worth watching television when most of the programming is CRAP. Thanks a lot AMC, you just lost a viewer.
It’s a real shame they canceled this show. I loved the plot, the characters…everything. a real shame
This is a travesty. Series like this draw us in and leave us hanging. It was the only show I looked froward to.
I loved the characters. Excellent acting with intriguing plots.
What an intelligent show. You should have given it nore time to find it’s audience. i don’t think Breaking Bad was that popular the first year and look at the awards and nominations. Won’t you be embarrased when it gets accolades next Spring. Please bring it back. Beth & Jeff White
Oh, do any of the readers above have any suggestions for something worth watching? I’m awaiting next summer for Damages and Breaking Bad, but what now?
An elegant, complex, espionage thriller that grips you like a Hitchcock classic is, indeed, more than the public deserves. Let us eat garbage.
I am very disappointed that Rubicon was cancelled. Rubicon’s viewing audience definitely would have increased in season two. The nature of Rubicon’s theme and the character roll out were interesting and stimulating leaving the viewer excited to learn more.
I thought AMC was interested in differentiated itself from other networks by hosting a show that appealed to a particular audience demographic unfortunately I was wrong. AMC is now back to much simpler plots dumbing down to the masses.
Maybe they were pressured to cancel by powers that be because the theory of the origins of acts like the sinking of the ship are too close for comfort. Don’t want the public to get any ideas. Food for thought even without a season 2.
One of my favorite shows. I could not turn away.
A TV show doesn’t need to have constant action and a happy ending at the end of every episode. AMC – great writing, great characters…give the show a chance! Bring it back!!!
Sad decision by AMC. They were patient with Mad Men and that paid off. Canceling Rubicon is a hit to the network’s efforts to be the free-cable home of quality, scripted TV. It would be great if HBO or another outlet would pick the show up. I found it to be one of the best things I saw in the past six months. A real shame it is going away.
What a shame-Bring it back _Please!!!!!!!
I was looking forward to Season 2 thought it was a good gripper with some many underlying conspiracy theories. Probably closer to the truth than we know.
Cancelled Rubicon? No need to watch AMC anymore. Here’s a way to get even though. Everyone with a smart cable box or phone line hooked to your satellite reciever, tune into AMC’s top shows for the first 10 minutes and then switch away and never come back – they track the first 15 minutes as a very important part of the ratings. This will totally mess with the ratings they’re gathering on all of us. Then the next time a great show comes on like Rubicon, watch it all the way through. If you record in on your DVR, don’t… Read more »
