Will there be a second season of Salvation? Recently, star Ian Anthony Dale spoke with TVLine about the future of the CBS TV show.
The thriller follows MIT graduate student Liam Cole (Charlie Rowe) and tech genius Darius Tanz (Santiago Cabrera) who discover a huge asteroid will crash into the Earth in six months.The cast also includes Jennifer Finnigan, Jacqueline Byers, Rachel Drance, Shazi Raja, and Ian Anthony Dale.
Salvation finished its freshman season this week, but will there be another? Speaking to TVLine, Dale revealed there is a plan for a second season:
There is a plan, yeah. That’s the thing, there’s so much more story to tell. I’m hopeful that I’ll be buying winter clothes for my newborn son, which means we’d be headed back to Toronto in February and I get to see what [showrunners] Liz [Kruger] and Craig [Shapiro] have up their sleeves. The way we end it really leaves the door open for a lot more story to be told and I certainly would love to get back together with this group of people. This was a wonderful, harmonious experience — and I’m sure Jen has told you the same thing.”
Though CBS has not yet announced a renewal for Salvation, Dale says it would be “foolish” not to greenlight a second season:
There are definitely options. And when you’re able to bring the elements together — this cast, these writers, that crew in Toronto — it would be foolish not to recreate that magic at least one more time.”

Definitely need a couple more seasons! The cast is captivating and the plot line is great. Kept me on the edge of my seat! Bring on more!
Of course I am expecting another season. I was glued to season 1, while I was not aware that the last episode was a season finale. I have to recommend more advertising what is happening. I didn’t even see a “next season” promo at the end of the last episode. I only noticed it wasn’t on my DVR so I googled to find out what happened. Please bring it back soon!
This is an amazing show that kept me captivated each week. I just finished watching the entire Season 1 again on a Salavation Marathon Weekend on Amazon Prime. YES, YES, YES, there needs to be a Second Season. Fantastic writers and scripts and the perfect cast. There is way too much yet to tell. CBS, you hit the jackpot with this one.
YES, we need more! There are so many mindless shows, finally another one that has some real content. Would not be fair to leave everyone hanging. I’m sure that once the world has been saved there are many more directions it could go.

I am in post-surgical recovery, and needed to find something to occupy my time while resting. I came across Salvation on my Amazon Prime, and decided to check it out, yesterday morning. I was hooked after the first episode. I finished binge-watching the season at 12:15 am today, not knowing it ended after 12 episodes, and…. AAUUGGHH! I’m suffering withdrawals, and I will blame CBS, if I can’t get another “fix” with a new season!
I watched – really want to see Season 2!
I loved the show and definitely want to see where it goes next. It was well developed and kept the suspense high. Give Season 2 a go!!!!!
