NBC has had great ratings success with airing The Blacklist after The Voice, their biggest series. Will State of Affairs be a hit as well? Cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
State of Affairs follows a top CIA analyst (Katherine Heigl) who assembles the President of the United States’ Daily Briefing (PDB), weighing the vital security issues that face the nation. She has a close personal relationship with the commander-in-chief (Alfre Woodard) as she was once engaged to the president’s now-deceased son. The rest of the cast of this dramatic thriller includes Adam Kaufman, Sheila Vand, Cliff Chamberlain, Tommy Savas, and David Harbour.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/8 update: NBC has cancelled State of Affairs after one season of 13 episodes.
1/19 update: If you ran the network, would you cancel or renew State of Affairs?
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the State of Affairs TV show? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a second season?
We love State of Affairs……
What is there about this girl that even keeps her getting such great opportunities and they all flop – I didn’t even think she was good on Gray’s. Oh well, what ever talent she has, she sure hides it well.
It is a shame Ms. Woodard was paired with ms. Height, the main reason the show is going to tank.
appears to be headed to the same grave in the sky as Crisis. Another show with a blonde female lead who couldn’t carry the show. (despite a secondary character with acting chops Gillian /Woodard)
Broing, Crapy Show with horrible acting. Show will cancel. Another bleach blonde, horrible actress.
They seem to have fairly good starting points, but then they throw in these little side shows in that make no sense because we really don’t know what’s going on. It would seem like they should have enough going on within the story line. Like the last one I watched before taking it off my VCR. Where a Russian sub with an American operative was stranded after tapping into some fiber optic cable to get information. Then they kept on with these side shows that were more of a distraction than a help in the story. One other thing that… Read more »
not republican? ever hear of Condi Rice?
Condi is much too smart to ever run for president, but was brilliant enough to be the power behind the throne with her hand in his neck. Just two weeks ago, Condi was still explaining the world to number 43. (People at my office took bets that they were lovers, but that’s a story for another day.). Frankly, Alfre Woodard is the best actress on the show, and while co-staring, is not given enough to do on the show to see whether she is presidential or not. Have only one black president, no women presidents, and presidential examples like 38… Read more »
Put Scandal and Homeland in a blender and this mess comes out .
KH doesn’t have the acting chops to carry off this role, Alfre is wasted on this show.
Alfre is a waste regardless, people complain about Heigl Serioulsy , Woodwards time has come & gone, she wrecks the show
Watching Alfre is never a waste. Time came and went? Just like fine wine, she gets better with age.
This show is bad all around and that is why I don’t watch.
And don’t say I don’t like the show because I don’t like Katherine Heigl. I don’t know anything about this woman, so how could I not like her.
For those of you who like the show great, but it seems more don’t than do.
so why are you on this site commenting
I was excited about this show because I loved West Wing and I love Madam Secretary, but this show just isn’t very good. I wanted to like it, I really did, but alas…
Just because people don’t care for the show doesn’t mean people hate KH. The show isn’t bad, it just has a lot of other show elements in it. Homeland, scandal, madam secretary, parts of blacklist. The time slot and premiering late i n the season just won’t help it. Time will tell. Ratings next week will be a much clearer picture.
wow, that was a big drop. I was going to DVR it and check it out. I still might. It can’t be that bad, surely? I don’t know anything about Heigl as I never watched GA, or any of her films, so I can at least not be biased from that angle.
Last night’s State of Affairs was excellent. It was completely different from last week’s pilot in that last night’s episode focused on a suspenseful, well-written spy story (with a sentimental undertone, of all things), not on Charlie’s personal life.
Guess it’s ok for Hegil’s character to tell her shrink…in graphic terms…on national TV…the only important thing is her achieving a state of physical satisfaction…but…it’s too vulgar? shocking? offensive? to repeat that same word on this board? Who’d of thought a board had higher standard than a nationally broadcast TV show? Anyway, the show blows…and not in a good way.
Gee, missed the vulgariity part. Got to go to VOD and check it out. Thanks for pointing it out.
I had hopes for this show but they faded fast. I truly doubt a bar-hoping, bed-hopping person would pass clearance to brief the President on national affairs. Irregardles of the sex/race/persuasion of either person. Overall, I found myself wanting the show to end so I could go to sleep. It didn’t win me over and likely won’t watch any more episodes.
I guess that you haven’t seen Showtime’s Homeland yet. Already in its fourth season (and already renewed), Homeland is about a Bipolar female CIA agent, who seems to sleep around a lot, had a child with a terrorist, and kills even worse terrorists; or Scandal, also in its fourth season, where the star of the show had a sexual relarionship with the president and his friend (sometimes at the same time). Both programs are incredibly popular, and so far, State of Affairs (get the double entendre?) appears to be an amalgamation of the two programs — a female CIA agent… Read more »
so in other words this is just a rip off of those shows and their sexual based themes
Yep.
And all are so absurd they aren’t worth my time to watch. Neither of the three are close to reality.
Too soon to tell about SoA to advise you about how to spend your time, but since two American presidents have admitted to watching the shows, maybe they are a little closer to the truth than we know. Look at the stupidity going on with that inbred, incestuous, nepotismistic agency, the (not so) Secret Service, absurd but true, and it makes you wonder about what’s going on with other agencies.
LOVED State of Afffairs! Great storyline and lots of action! We will be watching this series. As for the Heigl Haters…don’t watch. Glad she has a new series.
Not a Heigel hater. Just find her behavior on her last program reprehensible. The show however, has possibilities.
State of Affairs is Homeland meets Scandal and NBC has high hopes for the series. If you like The Blacklist then you must like State of Affairs (ignore the Heigl haters). Don’t know if the spy thriller is going to survive and it could topped Castle and NCIS: LA in the 10 p.m. Monday night time slot.
I like the Blacklist but did not like State of Affairs.
I couldn’t care one way or the other about Heigl.
Why would you leave Katherine Heigl alone? Ask the naysayers to prove her wrong for once in your life.
don’t know heigl or whatever her name is from a hole in the wall, could care less, but this **** is not even remotely in the same league as blacklist.
I guess they’re trying to do a cross between Homeland and The West Wing maybe??? All I saw was a lot of confusion beginning with a flashback to an attack from over a year ago. I get it that they wanted it to seem like a POV as if you were in the vehicle, but between the flashes of lights and shaky cameras it was pretty much just a hard to pay attention to mess. The phase that most of the show centered on suddenly throws all these characters at us with very little idea who they are or are… Read more »
