Though many critics loved the FX series, Terriers just couldn’t attract enough viewers to stay alive. FX has announced the TV show has been officially cancelled.
Terriers follows a pair of unorthodox and unlicensed private detectives. They’ll take just about any job, no matter how small or how strange. The show stars Donal Logue, Michael Raymond-James, Kimberly Quinn, Laura Allen, Rockmond Dunbar, and Jamie Denbo.
The series debuted to a 0.5 rating among the 18-49 demographic and 970,000 total viewers. When compared to other FX shows, that was a poor showing right from the start. The numbers went lower for subsequent episodes and the recent season finale attracted a 0.3 demo rating and 784,000 viewers.
FX President John Landgraf is expected to discuss the decision later today but ultimately the reason for the cancellation seems quite clear.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Terriers won’t be returning for a second season? Why didn’t it catch on? Was it simply a confusing title or something more?

It still doesn’t surprise me that the heads of the networks don’t get what people like. Guarenteed anything worth watching will be canceled by the clueless people who do programing. You might as well close up all the networks, because they think that all of us really are watching the “Real Housewives of yet another city?” HELLO! Find a slot that works. If people don’t know about your show’s, perhaps you should fire your PR dept and whoever is making the schedules!!
Blast. This was an awesome show with engaging anti-heroes. Why do all the best shows only really get recognized after they are killed off and achieve cult status. I can only blame the name that put me off for 2-3 episodes until a friend talked me into watching.
I LOVE THIS SHOW, …..THATS IT I’M KILLING MYSELF….FX MY BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS.
oh no…we loved this show…well written and acted…off beat…refreshing….do some more marketing for it and re release it….
Why should this surprise anyone? Clearly the MO is to bail on believable characters and story lines. Why try when you can cookie cut another competition show or the same weak scripts. Who’s to blame? Let me pull up this ap, I’ll have the DNA results in five minutes. For now station a squad car out in front of the Law & Order studio before we lose them to.
I loved this show!! watched it every week and couldnt wait til second season….. wth?
[…] (FX) Though many viewers and critics loved it, this series never caught on in a big way. FX aired all 13 episodes but there won’t be any […]
This sucks!! Loved this show!
I was talking to my husband today about when season 2 would be on. How disappointing to see that it got canceled. It was a great show. I can name a few FX shows that should have been canceled long ago. Maybe another station can pick Terriers up

Why did you cancell this great tv show? I loved this show and wanted so much to see the next season. I am so disappointed in FX-it makes me not want to watch your station.

ARE THEY INSANE ! this show was great
I loved this show!!!!! I didn’t get to watch it all the time but I had it as a recording on my DVR! I was just getting on line to see when the second season began and then I see this!!!!!! PLEASE BRING IT BACK!!!!
Someone tell this is not true! I loved this Show!!!!!
Make it come back on!
UNBELIEVABLE!! I’d really like to know how ratings are calcualted. Terriers was a GREAT show! The characters were believable, regular people with regular faults. The plot & the writing was fantastic with unlimited storylines available for many seasons unlike most new shows who have to cram 3 seasons into the first one just to make sure it stays afloat. Everytime I mentioned this show to someone who didn’t see it, they became instant fans. I know very few people who watch all of the reality show crap that is forced upon us. TV execs know it costs less than 1/2… Read more »
I just found out it has been canceled, unbelievable, I was sooooo looking forward to a second season. These guys were great together, and I think the show was kind’ve a under the radar deal, that given a second season would have led to a HUGE following. I hope someone will reconsider. The two actors had a great chemistry together, and the devious tricks each brought to the table with their very different backgrounds was entertaining in itself. Please whoever you are reconsider, or somebody else pick the show up!
