While the press information for last Thursday’s finale of The Astronaut Wives Club promoted it as only the “season finale,” it seemed pretty clear that, once the episode aired, the show had ended for good. Many viewers had a tough time envisioning what a second season could be.
Now that the finale has aired, ABC has confirmed that episode 10 was indeed the last episode of the low-rated series, eliminating any question that there will be a second season.
For her part, series creator Stephanie Savage agrees with that decision and told TV Insider, “To us on the creative side, it’s always been a mini-series with a beginning, middle and end, with no possibility of a Season 2 because we told the story. I love that a lot of people love the characters and the world, but I don’t really see how this story gets told over again.”
Based on the book by Lily Koppel, The Astronaut Wives Club focuses on seven women who were key players behind some of the biggest events in American history. As America’s astronauts were launched on death-defying missions, the lives of their young wives were transformed — seemingly overnight — from military spouses to American royalty. The cast includes Yvonne Strahovski, Dominique McElligott, Odette Annable, Joanna García, Erin Cummings, Azure Parsons, Zoe Boyle, Bret Harrison, Aaron McCusker, Wilson Bethel, Kenneth Mitchell, and Desmond Harrington.
What do you think? Do you like The Astronaut Wives Club TV show? Would you have been open to watching a second season?
I loved the show. I learned a lot. the show prompt me to research further about the different missions, and whom were on them. I really loved this show!
Disappointed it has been cancelled but grateful that the last episode told about the future lives of the astronauts and their wives.
Through enjoyed the Astronaut Wives Club series. So disappointed that there is no 2nd series. Just saw that info and had to voice my opinion! I was a part of this history, got married a month after Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. My husband taught middle school and because his last name is “Armstrong” was affectionately called “Moon Man”. Thought the series taught history in a story form and tastefully showed family life of the astronauts. Please reconsider, ABC, especially since there are very few programs that families can watch together without sex, bad language, etc BUT promotes discussion… Read more »

I really enjoyed this show. I wish it would continue with more seasons!
Really loved this show. Wonderful writing, ,wonderful acting, honors the true story. It is the wives version of The Right Stuff. I think, though, that the story is told.
I enjoyed this series immensely and I am sorry to hear there will not be a second seasin. Not only was it informative but it was enjoyable to watch every week. I loved the cast and looked forward to this show every week. It was refreshing ti watch. I would watch this anyday…I am so tired of reality TV and some of the other violent shows that are currently on air. Please reconsider!!!!!!
Loved it and was shocked to see it end
I really liked it. It was fresh and about real events. I am sorry there is not another season…
I am so sad. This really put a fresh look on some of the most amazing events in US history. We need more shows like this, good clean wholesome shows! Please bring it back
Loved it and sorry to see it end!
My friends & I loved this show! Very disappointed in how it ended and there will be no Season 2. Please reconsider ABC!
Loved the character development and potential story lines! Not to mention the nostalgia. Would definitely welcome a second season!
So sad there will not be a season 2! I looked forward to this show each and every week.
I was disappointed when ABC cancelled Pan Am and now I am equally disappointed that ABC cancelled the Astronaut Wives Club (even though the finale wrapped up loose ends, Roots did the same with their finale but came back with Roots 2). Such a historical and simpler time, and this is much closer to “reality TV” than the crap that is flooding our airwaves now. The amount of conversation generated in the household that resulted in researching the actual people and understanding their bios – both the astronauts and their wives – was amazing. So sad to learn the passing… Read more »
I am so sad there’re will be no season two. The ladies were such great actors. Storyline was wonderful. I lived in the 60s so I enjoyed the hairdos, mAkeup and clothes. So damn disappointed.
