While the press information for last Thursday’s finale of The Astronaut Wives Club promoted it as only the “season finale,” it seemed pretty clear that, once the episode aired, the show had ended for good. Many viewers had a tough time envisioning what a second season could be.
Now that the finale has aired, ABC has confirmed that episode 10 was indeed the last episode of the low-rated series, eliminating any question that there will be a second season.
For her part, series creator Stephanie Savage agrees with that decision and told TV Insider, “To us on the creative side, it’s always been a mini-series with a beginning, middle and end, with no possibility of a Season 2 because we told the story. I love that a lot of people love the characters and the world, but I don’t really see how this story gets told over again.”
Based on the book by Lily Koppel, The Astronaut Wives Club focuses on seven women who were key players behind some of the biggest events in American history. As America’s astronauts were launched on death-defying missions, the lives of their young wives were transformed — seemingly overnight — from military spouses to American royalty. The cast includes Yvonne Strahovski, Dominique McElligott, Odette Annable, Joanna García, Erin Cummings, Azure Parsons, Zoe Boyle, Bret Harrison, Aaron McCusker, Wilson Bethel, Kenneth Mitchell, and Desmond Harrington.
What do you think? Do you like The Astronaut Wives Club TV show? Would you have been open to watching a second season?
One thing I really enjoyed about this series, in addition to the great way the actresses played their specific roles, was the wonderful detail in the clothing, the home décor, and the potluck food. That added so much dimension to me.
I’m really sad it won’t be back. I really loved it, and it made me want to read the book all over again. These women were amazing, and I became attached to the characters. The actresses all did a great job.
I loved the mini series and even read the book to catch up on the history. I was hoping for a second season. The cast was amazing; my husband watched some episodes with me and also enjoyed it. I’ll be purchasing it when it’s released. Sad it won’t see another season.
I love the show and would be open to watching the second season exploring the lives of other astronauts. I’ve met Scott Carpenter as well as five of the men who have walked on the moon and find them all fascinating people. I would not be surprised this first season becomes a cult classic in the future.
I loved the show and looked forward to each episode! I wish it could continue and follow the families a little longer.
I loved this series and agree that it was complete. Sad though because I grew very attached to the characters. Great job telling a story which deserved to be heard. Thank You All
They took the story from Mercury to Apollo. Any future would have been the story of the space shuttles, interesting but not as dramatic (with a couple of significant exceptions). It was best done as a one-season miniseries. And I liked that soap opera drama was minimal and historical events were maximized.
Loved it!! So disappointing there will not be a season 2!
I found this show unwatchable. I am not surprised it was canceled.
I really liked the show. While you cannot tell the same story maybe you can tell like stories of historical events in the sixties and seventies that are interesting.
If there isn’t a second season of AWC. You can always watch ” The right stuff “, if you haven’t seen it already. It’s 3 hrs. of the real story, It’s the kind of movie that sucks you in every time.I bought my own copy and hv watched it about 8 times so far.

I’m really disappointed that ABC has chosen not to pick up Astronauts Wives Club for a Season 2. It was one of the few shows on television that I looked forward to watching each week.
Astronaut wives club will not be seen this year, so instead we may bring you some Girls In Bikinis,Beer Drinking, eating out at resturuants,Camping Trips,Girls In Thong Bikinis,Thong Baithing Suits, baithing Suits, topless sunbating at topless Beaches with topless women and Forever Season 2 On Hulu Or netflix On Television. and Excessive violence and Nudity on TV.
I loved that show. Maybe people are not looking for a show unless it has gross things, murder and gore. These real stories are great.
Great show!! Wish there was more like this on Television . I miss good TV that is wholesome. Too bad no one else does because the ratings are low on these kind of shows. It made my summer .
I loved this show. I get that you can’t add to the story when the whole story has been told but I would love to see the stories of the women continue even if it’s not all historically factual. Just so many great memories. The entire generation of the 60 and 70 has so many awesome stories that could be shared,
Val, I agree with you. The series True Detective has a different take each season so a series that brings us the story of women who have contributed but not received full credit could follow that style.
