NBC hasn’t given sophomore drama a full season order yet but, according to star Debra Messing, the network has ordered five more installments.
The Mysteries of Laura revolves around a brilliant-but-harried NYPD homicide detective (Messing) who must also juggle raising her young twin boys as a single mom. The rest of the cast includes Josh Lucas, Laz Alonso, Janina Gavankar, Max Jenkins, Callie Thorne, and Med Steedle.
The series drew mediocre ratings last season — averaging a 1.22 in the demo and 7.45 million — but NBC renewed it anyway for a second season and ordered 13 episodes to start.
The ratings haven’t gotten any better this year with the show averaging a 1.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.08 million. On the bright side, it is doing better than the network’s two Friday night comedies and new Thursday entry The Player (a series sure to be cancelled).
Tonight, while tweeting with fans during the East Coast airing of the program, Messing responded to this question:
@DebraMessing when will we know if @NBCLaura will get a back 9 ? @NBC #MysteriesofLaura

The order hasn’t been officially announced by the network yet but they did order five additional scripts earlier this month.
What do you think? Do you like The Mysteries of Laura TV show? Do you think NBC should have ordered more episodes? Does this series deserve a third season or a pink slip?
This is a great cast. I love this show. Thanks for giving Josh Lucasmore airtime this season. Please have a third season!
I love the show. Please do a 3rd season. You have a great cast ..
“Yes” to more episodes!! This is an intelligent, well-written show which does not pander to stupidity. And…Josh Lucas & his dimples are so gorgeous!!
I was surprised yet pleased that the show got a second season – however it’s sustainability is seemingly based on fandom. The show falls short and is cluttered fluff. I don’t think it should make it past season 2 – yes great cast but subpar – it gets it’s ratings from a strategic timeslot
I really S really love this show I look forward to watching it every week I’m tired of NBC putting shoes on getting people interested and then stopping them they made more episodes so show them I think they are not thinking clearly about the audience there are more than 18 – 39 year olds watching shows and I’m really tired of them thinking they’re the only ones who count.
Great show. Love it. Yes to a third season!
Thoroughly enjoyable show and Debra Messing great.
I feel what is hurting the show this season is the new boss. I hope she lightens up and gets off her high horse. Other than that, this is one of my fav shows.
Mysteries of Laura is a great show I love watching it every Wednesday I hope they keep the show running and renew it for another full season it’s got an excellent plot the actors and actresses are great and everybody my family and my brothers and all my friends love watching it so just renew it for another season and another one after that just keep it going cuz its a great series.
Still love the snow. Really hoping for a third season. Debra Messing as beautiful as always and love her capability as an actor.
