Oprah Winfrey’s favorite interior designer, Nate Berkus, will soon be available for other projects. His daytime talk series, The Nate Berkus Show, has been cancelled after two seasons on the air.
The decorating series — often referred to as The Nate Show — debuted September 13, 2010 in syndication. Despite having a loyal following, the Berkus show didn’t catch on with a big enough audience. It’s been averaging about 1.4 million viewers this season. New episodes will continue to be produced and air until the end of this season but there won’t be a third.
In a join statement, Sony Pictures Television and Harpo Studios said, “After careful consideration, we have decided that The Nate Berkus Show will not return for a third season in the fall… We are grateful for the hard work and heart that Nate, [executive producer] Corin Nelson and their entire team have poured into the show, and we’re very proud of what they’ve delivered.”
Berkus said, “I’m incredibly proud of my hard working and talented staff, and proud of the show we were able to produce every day.”
The cancellation doesn’t come as a big surprise, especially given the ratings and the show’s expense. The peacock network initially signed a three year deal with Sony for the Berkus Show but recently made deals for new daytime talk shows from Steve Harvey and Jeff Probst. Given the limited number of daytime time slots, that move didn’t seem to leave any room for The Nate Berkus Show.
In some markets, Berkus filled the timeslot left vacant by The Bonnie Hunt Show, a program that was also dropped after two seasons in 2010.
What do you think? Will you miss Nate Berkus’ program? Should it continue on Winfrey’s OWN network?

I am so tired of listering to Nat talking about sex and always bring up his
gay life style. Today August 9th was very untasteful with the sex toys. He
has so much talent in interior design it is ashame he couldn’t concerate
on what his show was suppose to be about.
I am very sad that the show was cancell cause I love Nate he was caring and always laughing and he gave good tips on how to make things out of the ordinary I just hope Oprah keep him on her program I was happy to read that he is getting his talents at Target and I thinks that’s awsome you deserve it thank you Lourdes Lahmann
I am disappointed that the show is being cancelled. As stated by many others, why another talk show. TV needs more variety.
I agree with the comments above. Nate was a breath of fresh air. enjoyed his variety of topics but his decorating ideas were the highlight! I won’t watch another talk show. Nate’s topics were hands-on and inspiring. Hopefully he will be picked up by another network. Maybe he could give OWN a needed lift.
Yes, please continue Nate’s show on Own. It’s enjoyable, has great info, etc. As one of the other comments states: “Oh great, nothing to look forward to for morning TV”. This show isn’t depressing, and nice that it doesn’t focus nearing half the show on stupid news/hot topics and focusing on junk that just doesn’t matter. He presents personal, fashion, home, food ideas that are applicable to a wide range of people. It’s worth keeping.
Oh great….nothing to look forward to on morning television. What would be the point in cancelling a show with well over a million dedicated viewers for another talk show or, heaven forbid, an idiotic game show. Does anyone really watch game shows any more. Please Oprah, won’t you pick up the Nate Berkus show? I would certainly switch allegiance to YOUR network. Nate’s caring, kindness, and desire to help people truly warms our hearts. He’s genuine.
The Nate show was the best talk show on tv. It was fun energetic and touched on the subjects I was interested in. I feel Oprah should bring the show to the own network. It would be a great addition. I have not spoken to one person who didn’t fully enjoy the show. Please bring it back! Someone, anyone?
Oh great…another talking head show talking about people’s problems and oh..look – they are going to search the internet to show us videos WOW… So NOT a good choice. We’ve got Good Afternoon America to go with Good Morning America …. ABC — what’s up… You keep going from bad to worse…. Oh, and don’t forget we’ve got perky Katie Couric coming in September also… talking abour a retread…. ABC – you are losing me hour by hour. Let me know when and if OWN gets Nate and can start getting my viewing time
It should definitely be on OWN! Love the show!
I should definitely be on OWN. I love the show!
I am furious Nate’s show has been cancelled. It seems every time a decent shows comes on it is cancelled and another talk show takes it’s place. Nate has a wonderful, sincere personality and seems to really care about people. Can’t another network pick him up?? How about Oprah”s network. PLEASE PLEASE find him a new home!!!
I would love it if Oprah’s OWN Network would keep Nate’s show going!
I love his show. No one in daytime can help us with our decorating. You have too many talkshows that dont really give us any but useless babble. Nothing in the daytime is worth turning the t.v. on for anymore. I am sorry you are cancelling the one decent daytime show
He had it all. Great decorating tips, and diy segments. I loved Mr. Goodwill Hunting. Nate is one of a kind. He is a generous host and always was kind to his guests. The segments about clothes and cooking were equally good. i had the great privilege to be able to attend two tapings of the Nate Show. I agree with the other comments Jeff Probst? Are you kidding? Cancelling Nate was a big mistake.
I really enjoyed The Nate Berkus Show. I looked forward to the show each afternoon because of the variety of topics and the guests Nate had on the show. Nate seemed to really enjoy what he was doing and the people he had on the show whether it was on stage or in the audience. Nate is a very talented and gifted person and I know God has great plans for him. He will be missed on television but I hope to see him on another show in the very near future.
