A few weeks ago, we reported that, despite low ratings, the producers of ABC’s V had no plans to give fans any kind of closure in the season (likely series) finale. Now, TV Guide reports that the finale will actually be a blood bath, killing off as much as a third of the show’s series regulars.
Executive producer Scott Rosenbaum says that two or three of the following actors have been let go from the ABC series: Scott Wolf (Chad), Logan Huffman (Tyler), Morris Chestnut (Ryan), Joel Gretsch (Father Jack), Laura Vandervoort (Lisa), and Jane Badler (Diana). He’s hoping that this “bold move” (also read: cost cutting) will help convince the network to renew V for a third season. Rosenbaum said that he made his decision of who to get rid of based on “what would be most devastating for the characters I want to continue.”
Vandervoort says that viewers will be shocked by what happens, as the cast and crew were when they read the script.
While it was looking like the new V was doomed to be cancelled after two seasons, it looks like there could be hope. The ratings have started to pick up in the last two weeks and the 18-49 demographic ratings rose nearly 6% each episode. The series is still averaging a poor 1.9 rating in the demo and 5.7 million viewers and there are just four episodes left in the season. If the numbers keep rising, ABC could see this as encouraging enough to give it another shot. A similar thing happened last season when the show was on the bubble.
What do you think? Who won’t survive the season (or series) finale? Do you think ABC will take a chance and renew V again?

I use to watch the original series and love the new series as well. Many of my friends aren’t even aware that a new series had begun. Please please DO NOT cancel these series!!
Write mails to paul.lee@abc.com and let him know you want another season of V. Too many people watch online, which hurts the ratings. At least with another season, we might get a proper ending to the series, instead of it being cancelled in the middle of evrything.
this show should of been cancelled two season ago it stinks an more more season is not going to help bury it now an get it over with. an yes i watch the first two seasons
If you don’t even know that it is ‘should have’ not ‘should of’ I find it hard to take your opinion seriously.
Based on what Rosenbaum said, that he wants those remaining to be devastated, I can certainly see Tyler getting killed off. Chad also is my guess as his character will be redundant once the human population finds out how bad ass these Vs really are. I think Father Jack will remain and start kicking some alien butt himself. Diana is probably the other to go as it is the weirdest part of the show…she;ll play a major role in helping out the humans, sacrificing herself in the process. All these guesses being said, I really hope V remains for another… Read more »
I love V and so does most of my family. We have enjoyed watching it since it first came out. I agree with Kat. By killing off Tyler, it will throw Erica into a deep, dark place and will make her a better queen than her mother, thereby making the show chillier. Please don’t cancel this show. It is getting very very good now.
Oh, I didn’t even think about the effect it’d have on Lisa (the young V lady)! That’s a good point, too. Lisa’s such an important part of show that things could get very difficult for everyone if she loses her grip over Tyler’s death. And I agree, it’s getting better and better. 🙂
If V learns anything, more war = more viewers. Just look at Siege`s uptick in viewers. Give Marc Singer and Jane Badler bigger stories. Tyler and Ryan need to go, maybe even Chad and Jack. Bring back Faye Grant, Michael Ironside, Robert Englund and David Packer. And breeding can’t be the only thing they are here for, add another layer of sinister to their plans like stealing our water and harvesting humans for food. Less green screen too. What ever happened to the biological problem killing fish and reptiles from Season 1? Pick up on that. Keep the new anchorwoman.… Read more »
I agree about the greenscreen. It seems like just about every scene uses one.
Yes! Beautiful V 😀
one will probably be diana (jane badler), who still looks hot after all these years, and i don’t really want her to die and father jack will kick the bucket, more than likely
I LOVE this show. It is one of the few shows I actually watch when it broadcasts. 9 episodes in mid-season was not a fair or fighting chance. I hope that ABC sees the improvements in ratings as reason for renewal.
please please please do not cancel V////i love this show—-it is so exciting
This is really intresting since they supposedly have already filmed the episode. I read awhile back in an interview with Jane Badler that they do not kill her character and they left it for her to come back. I hope they do not kill of Jane since she was just a guest star anyway and she has brought such a great dynamic to the show. I do see them killing Tyler simply because its going to add much dynamic to her character. Also, even though he is a young actor it is sad but fans do not like him. I… Read more »
I could definitely see Ryan and Tyler getting killed off… The former could go out in a blaze of glory for the cause, or in saving someone else’s life, and the latter could be a surprise death that would tailspin Erica into a darker vigilante against the Vs. I don’t think I agree with you about Father Jack, though… his character could go even further and I think there’s still a lot left to do with him. If I had to pick a third, I think it’d be Chad.
ABC please give V another shot. Renew for third season. If not NBC/Universal’s SYFY network should pick the show up.
“V FINALE WILL BE A BLOODBATH BUT MAY NOT BE THE END” The title alone basically says the article is a spoiler.
I LOVED the original “V” and I love this “V” and I really don’t understand why it would be cancelled now that it is just getting going and getting really good?!
PLEASE give it one more season at least! However, don’t wait too long to start the third season though because that might cost the show some viewers.
Thank you!
Telling the viewers who will be leaving the series before it even happened is a spoiler, and should not have been included in the article. Aside from that, the series should most definitely continue after this season.
@JackTheRipper: It doesn’t say who’s leaving, just that 2-3 series regulars will be.
I read it the same way as JackTheRipper. Though after I reread it, I realized it was “only” 2 to 3 of the list, not all. Thanks for clearing that up.
