Here’s the press release:
CINEMAX ANNOUNCES START OF PRODUCTION FOR FOURTH SEASON OF HIT ACTION SERIES “BANSHEE”
NEW YORK, April 8, 2015 – Production has begun in Pittsburgh on the fourth season of the Emmy(R)-winning CINEMAX action series BANSHEE, it was announced today by Kary Antholis, president, HBO Mini-series and CINEMAX Programming. The eight-episode season will air in 2016, with Alan Ball, Greg Yaitanes, Jonathan Tropper, Peter Macdissi, Adam Targum and Ole Christian Madsen executive producing.
BANSHEE concluded its third season last month, achieving record ratings for CINEMAX as well as critical acclaim. Yahoo! named it “TV’s best action show,” while the A.V. Club described the series as “one of the best things on television, period.” The Huffington Post called the show “wildly witty,” and Grantland said BANSHEE is “a whole hell of a lot of fun.”
Debuting in Jan. 2013, BANSHEE stars Antony Starr (“Wish You Were Here”) as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pa., where he continues his criminal pursuits while enforcing his own code of justice.
Other cast includes Ivana Milicevic (the upcoming “Aloha,” HBO’s “Mind of the Married Man”) as Carrie Hopewell, a notorious jewel thief who lives in Banshee under an assumed identity with her new family, which has recently learned of her criminal past; Ulrich Thomsen (“The Celebration”) as Lucas’ arch-enemy, Kai Proctor, an intimidating, wealthy businessman who believes he is above the law; Hoon Lee (“The Blacklist”) as Job, a dangerous transvestite computer hacker who assists Lucas and Carrie in their criminal enterprises; Frankie Faison (“The Good Wife,” HBO’s “The Wire”) as Sugar Bates, a wise and powerful former boxer who owns the local watering hole and serves as confidante to Lucas and Job; Matt Servitto (HBO’s “The Sopranos”) as Brock Lotus, Lucas’ long-suffering veteran deputy; Ryann Shane (“Lights Out”) as Deva Hopewell, Carrie’s teenage daughter, who is rattled after learning Lucas fathered her; Lili Simmons (HBO’s “True Detective”) as Rebecca Bowman, Proctor’s sexy niece, who has taken on a larger role in his criminal activities; Matt Rauch (“The Blacklist,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) as Clay Burton, Proctor’s multifaceted, complicated bodyguard and right-hand man; Tom Pelphrey (“The Following”) as Kurt Bunker, a former skinhead who joins the Banshee sheriff’s department as a deputy; and Chris Coy (“The Walking Dead,” HBO’s “Treme”) as Calvin Bunker, Kurt’s unsavory brother, who has kept his Nazi ties.
New to the cast are Eliza Dushku (“Dollhouse,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) as Veronica Dawson, a tough, sexy and shockingly reckless FBI profiler with no shortage of personal demons, who joins forces with Lucas, and Ana Ayora (“The Big Wedding”) as Nina Cruz, a Banshee deputy working as an inside plant for Proctor.
In Sept. 2013, BANSHEE received a Primetime Emmy(R) Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role.
Season four credits: BANSHEE was created by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler; executive producers, Alan Ball, Greg Yaitanes, Jonathan Tropper, Peter Macdissi, Adam Targum, Ole Christian Madsen; producer, Robert F. Phillips
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Banshee TV series? Will you be watching the fourth season?
Of all my favorite shows/series, banshee is the hands down best. I’m saddened to hear that the 4th season will be the last, wish it was gossip and not true. Being a retired police officer. I am intrigued that a con out of prison can step in to the shoes of a murdered sheriff and performs the duty of a law enforcement officer in a most realistic manner, barring a heist or two. The whole cast is the most outstanding, realistic actors and actresses the the entertainment field.
Love it!!!! I’m just hoping I live till 2016. I think their is way toooo much time between series. 🙁

In one person’s opinion Banshee is one of the Best shows going.. I am a long time fan of such series as the Sopranos..And my FAVORITE to date is SPARTACUS…(nothing better) but BANSHEE make TV worth watching
I never thought there would be another show as good as crime story 87-88 banshee proved me wrong. There is nothing even close to it on tv or for that matter the big screen. Which leads me to say has the powers that are thought of banshee the movie. How many squeals do you think we could get? Maybe 10-15 or more. I t could be the biggest franchise ever. People don’t know it’s even on. Cinemax is not a big enough venue. This show will not last on tv unless it has proper exposure. We are all ready seeing… Read more »
