This TV series takes place in the year 2046. It’s a new Earth and there are new rules. It’s been more than 30 years since various alien races started arriving on our world. The landscape has been completely altered — terraformed nearly beyond recognition.

The mysterious Nolan (Grant Bowler) and his charge, Irisa (Stephanie Leonidas), come to the town of Defiance (which used to be St. Louis). As they settle into the town, events begin to unfold that threaten the fragile peace this border town has fought for.

Defiance is overseen by Mayor Amanda Rosewater (Julie Benz) and filled with residents like powerful Rafe McCawley (Graham Greene), enterprising lounge owner Kenya (Mia Kirshner) and the ambitious, alien Tarrs (Tony Curran and Jaime Murray).

I love this show. It has the best and the worst of humanity and I think portrays the future of a world devastated by an alien source in a very realistic way. I really love sci-fi that draws you in and makes you feel a part of it. Hope it goes on for a long time!

I really like the show and would like to see it return. It has good characters and a good story line and is far better than any of the so-called ‘reality’ shows.

Agree with Barry. Great characters, great story line. Would like to see a team of talented writers take on this project and make it wildly successful. Would love to see this series survive.

Being an adult has nothing to do with whether or not one perceives Defiance as a good show. That’s just a blatant lie. But whatever, its you discrediting yourself, not I.

This show, like so many before it, has an abundance of potential that is being squandered by the producers and writers apparently phoning it in. For example, in the pilot, I knew the moment the Protaganist said guaranteed payday that they were going to get jumped by marauders. Then the death of the former “Law Keeper” (really, simply calling him sheriff and explaining that it was a term from before “Arkfall” would have been to much effort? It’s easier to Then there is Arkfall itself. First, really? That’s the best name you could come up with? Really? I’m okay with the fact that they didn’t explain what caused their ships to blow up as this leaves many possibilities to explore. Then we have the aliens and the numerous languages that they all, and most humans seem to understand and fluently speak. Honestly? Show me any community of humans here and now that can speak pidgin versions of that many languages anywhere on the planet! Then we have the battle with the mega-death-monster-villain-aliens at the end of the pilot. Okay, so out the gate, these folks have the technological know-how to travel across at least a large section of our Galaxy (if not further, it’s not clearly explained where they are from) yet haven’t the ability to make even primitive (by comparison) air-craft? Or is it that this super warrior race simply fail to grasp the value of Air Superiority/ Supremacy? And what about the humans and their alien allies in Defiance? Not a single MacGyver type made a single ultra-light? Yer kiddin’, right? Then there’s the fight itself…TALK ABOUT PHONING IT IN! What, they had 15 to 30 people total on the canyon wall, and only on one of the canyon walls? And how many casualties did they take in battling the monster super soldiers from hell? One or two in the scenes and less than 50 later mentioned? And they were wiped out how exactly? By the large BOMB PLATFORM in the middle of the canyon with doomsday machine lights all over and around it, and not one soldier so much as hit the platform with a glancing blow?!? Sigh! Okay, so you aren’t aiming for an adult audience apparently, but would it kill you to write even a little bit for the post-pubescent viewers, let alone actual adults? If they get a second season, I hope they address these BASIC issues, or they won’t get a third.

Verum, you hit the nail on the head. So, please join my sort of crusade to get the stupid advertisers to lift this stupid demographic garbage and stop writing for children and start writing for the majority of us grown ups, with more time and money. Not only this, but many shows are getting so juvenile that we, the adults, are tuning out in droves and the kids STILL aren’t tuning in. WHAT WILL IT TAKE??? The entire network/cable medium to crash completely??? You got it all right here. Now understand the complete idiocy that is driving this kind of sci fi show with so much potential to continue, episode to episode, to dumb it down!!!

I think this an original series, it has a good story line. An old western cowboy theme and a little Romeo and Juliet to boot.
