Last Resort: Final Episode Details for Cancelled ABC Series

Last Resort series finaleThe alphabet network has released details about the final episode of Last Resort. Though the network calls it a “season finale,” everyone involved with the show acknowledges that it won’t be back for season two.

Unlike fellow cancellation casualty 666 Park Avenue, at least we know that ABC will actually air the final episode of Last Resort. The last installments of 666 may air this summer.

Here’s the press release (beware of spoilers):

“Controlled Flight Into Terrain” – In the exciting season finale, a violent battle for control erupts on the submarine, which leaves the Colorado vulnerable to capture by a third party — one with an exploitative plan. Can Marcus and Sam take control of the sub before it’s too late? The season finale of “Last Resort” airs THURSDAY, JANUARY 24 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network.

“Last Resort” stars Andre Braugher as Captain Marcus Chaplin, Scott Speedman as XO Sam Kendal, Daisy Betts as Lieutenant Grace Shepard, Dichen Lachman as Tani Tumrenjack, Daniel Lissing as SEAL Officer James King, Sahr Ngaujah as Mayor Julian Serrat, Camille de Pazzis as Sophie Girard, Autumn Reeser as Kylie Sinclair, Jessy Schram as Christine Kendal and Robert Patrick as Master Chief Joseph Prosser.

Guest Cast: Michael Mosley as SCPO Hal Anders, Michael King as Petty Officer Kevin Hawkes, Chin Han as Mr. Zheng Min, Robert Davison as Kowalski, Jason Beghe as Wes Porter.

“Controlled Flight Into Terrain” was written by Karl Gajdusek & David Wiener and directed by Michael Offer.

What do you think? Will you be tuning in? Do you think the series finale of Last Resort will be a satisfying end?

I really enjoy the show ‘Last Resort’. It gets better with every episode. I find the characters interesting and the story is compelling. There are numerous twists and turns that keep you guessing, and it is completely unpredictable. It’s too bad that this show has been canceled. They will probably put another dumb reality TV show in its place.

Too bad this show isn’t coming back. As always the truly complex shows without black-and-white scenarios get cancelled. Of course, all the dumb dramas where cop/figherfighter = good guy and we know who the bad guys are stay on. This show kept you guessing. The whole time you weren’t sure if you really should be rooting for Chaplin or not. Whether the President is evil or a puppet. Who is the puppet-master after all? Would a cleansing coup be a good thing or the worst alternative?

Oh well, at least we’ll get another slate of cop/lawyer/doctor dramas with the same recycling story lines. Thanks a lot ABC.

I appear to have the opposite opinion as most of you. I saw this as an unsustainable series from the beginning. This would have been a great mini-series but, how often can the island get attacked in different ways before they had to use a nuke? The very concept had a shelf life.

I think you have made one of the worst decisions on this show! It is one of the better shows on TV. It beats all the cop, fireman, and lawyer shows you all come up with. BRING THE SHOW BACK!

It’s a TRAGEDY that Last Resort isn’t being picked up and continued by FX, TNT or SOMEBODY!!!!!!! It is a fantastic show. The cast is great, the storyline is solid and excellent, and Andre Braugher is brilliant! I wish the writers would at least finish the story in a book! I’d buy and read it it! I want to know what happens to all of the characters, the Colorado and the country!!!!!!! Very sad!!!!!!

i cant believe they are cancelling this show…it is ridiculous. Its better than most shows on tv now a thinking it has more to do with the fact they took risks than it does ratings. The government is media controlled so our precious president and congress probably didnt want it on the air …too close to whats going on in real life.

This is one of the few intelligent programs on TV. I wait all week to enjoy a new episode and the watch it again online. If ABC does not have the wisdom to give this show a chance I hope another network will.

  8. Steve says

This is a GREAT show. I have to watch it online, because of my work schedule. It is the only TV show that I can’t wait to watch every week.

I hope they change this decision!

am sorry to see Last Resort Go. Most TV programs these days are horrible, they
are largely sarcastic, belittling, dengrating, and it goes on.

I really like this show and it really sucks that another show that I like is getting axed!!! Enough already and let this show continue with what happens after they get back to washington etc etc….

I came online to read about how it was doing and was sorely disappointed to see that it is being canceled. ABC must have hired the same Fox executive(s) that killed “Firefly”: if it’s smart, good writing, with complex character-dynamics, get rid of it!

They need to add another letter and it should be the letter S that way it can it will say ABCS = ALL BUT COMMON SENSE Cause that is what they do not have COMMON SENSE

  13. conradb2 says

IMDB gives this show a 7.8 rating, which is pretty good. (Max of 10)
Honey Boo Boo gets a 2.2 rating and it gets promoted and a second chance!
What is wrong with this picture!
ABC… read the comments and keep Last Resort on!

  14. Timothy says

Hmmm..Last Resort seems like it has some Benghazi undertones This cancellation may have been more political than just a ratings game. How interesting that the ratings have picked up in recent, it is just getting to the underlying conspiracies
