TV show description:
This medical drama details the lives of the people who work at New Jersey’s Mercy Hospital, seen primarily through the eyes of three nurses. These nurses know everything that goes on in the hospital and everyone else’s business. They may not be in charge but, in many cases, they’re the ones who keeping it all working.
Nurse Veronica Flanagan Callahan (Taylor Schillng) just returned from a tour of Iraq. She isn’t afraid of her own strength and is incredibly smart. It’s a big change to go from the war to a civilian hopistal and she has a hard time taking a backseat to physicians who haven’t had nearly as much experience as she’s had. Veronica is very streetwise but always puts the patient first. She annoys higher-ups like Dr. Dan Harris (James LeGros) and though Chief of Staff Dr. Alfred Parks (Delroy Lindo) respects her, he can only let her go so far.
She’s estranged from her contractor husband, Mike (Diego Klattenhoff), who is trying to woo her back after having an affair. Veronica’s blue-collar alcoholic parents (Kate Mulgrew and Peter Gerety) would love to see them get back together. Thankfully, Veronica has a source of sanity in her bother Bobby (Johnny Hopkins) who has troubles in his own marriage.
Nurse Sonia Jimenez (Jamie Lee Kirchner) is a head turner. She can be very compassionate but she doesn’t take any guff from anyone, especially the guys. She combines these traits well to get the job done. She’s tired of hooking up with losers who have a hard time even paying their bills and wants to live the good life. Despite knowing better, she starts to fall for Detective Nick Valentino (Charlie Semine).
Nurse Chloe Payne (Michelle Trachtenberg) is a newbie and very green. It’s her first days as a nurse, and she is shocked by the cold-heartedness that it seems she needs to do her job well. Her first assignment from Senior Nurse Klowden (Margo Martindale) is to shut down a patient’s life-support machines. Chloe’s the eternal optimist and has a hard time dealing with the sometimes negative reality of her job that other nurses like Angel Garcia (Guillermo Diaz) seem to take in stride.
Dr. Chris Sands (James Tupper) came to Mercy because he’s was hoping to reunite with Veronica with whom he had a brief affair in Iraq. He finds her but things don’t go as he’d hoped, especially since she’d just reluctantly reconciled with her husband the night before.

Mercy is so intense…I love it! There is no other show like this one on T.V. that is worth watching!!! I can NOT wait for the next season!!!!!
this really makes me very upset as my family looked forward to the show every week and it was a range of ages for the drs and nurses….And actually taught me a lot if someone was in trouble do they not care what the viewers think
I love Mercy! It’s my favorite show on tv! I look forward to it every week. The good thing about Mercy I find, is that it has yet to have a bad episode. Some shows have bad weeks where the episode is kind of meh, Mercy has yet to do this. All of the episodes are so good. I know dr shows are all the craze.. but honestly i could never get into them, but Mercy brings something else to the table than just a “dr/nurse” show. You can easily connect to the characters and you’re rooting for some of them to get through their problems. Please Don’t cancel this show!
