Parenthood: Season Four Ratings

NBC parenthood ratingsUnfortunately, Parenthood has never been a hit TV show in the ratings. Fortunately, the numbers have been good enough to keep it from being cancelled each year. Will the Braverman family’s luck hold out? Time will tell.

An ensemble family drama, the cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Craig T. Nelson, Dax Shepard, Erika Christensen, Joy Bryant, Lauren Graham, Mae Whitman, Max Burkholder, Miles Heizer, Monica Potter, Peter Krause, Sam Jaeger, Sarah Ramos, Savannah Paige Rae, and Tyree Brown.

Season four of Parenthood typically airs on Tuesdays nights at 10pm on the NBC network. They’ve ordered 15 episodes.

These are the TV show’s ratings for the 2012-13 season, the best way to tell if Parenthood is going to be cancelled or renewed for season five.

UPDATE: NBC has renewed this show for 2013-14 and has ordered 22 episodes.

Final season averages: 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.98 million total viewers.

Season averages: 1.84 in the demo with 4.98 million.

It wasn’t a great start of the season. Though Parenthood won its timeslot (opposite reruns), it was down year-to-year by 14% in the coveted demo (vs a 2.2 rating) and down by 13% in total viewers (vs 6.29 million). This isn’t a big surprise however since each season opener has been lower than the one before it.

Reference point: The 2011-12 season of Parenthood averaged a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.13 million viewers.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

Hope they keep it on. One of the only show on the networks that I actually will watch. You can actually relate to the show and the actors.

Please please renew for another season! This show has actually helped me so much through my own struggles! I also have a son with Aspergers and have been able to relate to many of the situations in the show. It really is nice to watch something that takes up real life issues and being able to relate to them! So please allow Parenthood another season!

Please renew. The writing and the characters are so real. Tough real life situations are handled in a mature and usually respectful manner. I look forward to it returning!

Parenthood should NOT be cancelled. It is probably the most realistic show on TV. You or someone you know have experienced the same things as the cast on the show. If you have children (grown or kids) you’ve felt the pain and/or joy of parenthood just like the characters on the show. Why does a show have to be gross, sexually perverted, or silly in order to get good ratings. The acting is great, from the youngest to the oldest( Craig T. Nelson). Good shows are rare now days; leave this show on.

We are loyal viewers of Parenthood and watch it every week. Seems like every year network “brains” contemplate cancelling it. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL PARENTHOOD. It is one of the best shows on television and it presents families as they really are – good, bad, and indifferent. Warts and all this family is real!!

Please renew Parenthood. The writers have been great at putting out real issues that needs the attention. This show is our families favorite. Bring on some bigger actors next season.
Putting Ray Romano on was excellent……hope he is coming back!

Please renew Parenthood for season 5. Is the only show on TV where family can sit together and watch, so realistic i cried in each of their episodes.
