To very little surprise, the CW has cancelled one of its few remaining sitcoms, The Game. Is this the end for the series or could it still return?
Created by Mara Brock Akil, The Game began as a spin-off of Akil’s long-running comedy, Girlfriends. The series centers around a first year medical student (Tia Mowry) who chooses to follow her pro-football boyfriend (Pooch Hall) to San Diego. Others in the cast include Brittany Daniel, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez and Wendy Raquel Robinson.
The first sitcom to debut on the CW network, The Game averaged 2.3 million viewers in season one. For season two, the ratings dropped to 2.07 million and a .96 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This season, it’s fallen to an average of 1.68 million viewers and a tiny 0.7 rating in the demo, in part because it was given a Friday night timeslot.
The CW is essentially getting out of the sitcom business and has cancelled The Game after 64 episodes. There had been talks about changing the show’s format to an hour-long dramady, to make it more compatible with the network’s other programming. That was seen as a long-shot at best and actually would have created its own set of challenges for syndication.
Though The Game only has 64 episodes, BET recently signed a syndication deal to air the first two seasons and season three will be added this Fall. To increase the show’s number of episodes, there have been discussions between the cable channel and CBS (the show’s studio) about co-funding original episodes. The deal would likely come with some cost-cutting measures.
There’s been no further word on the potential deal with BET so, as of right now, “The Wedding Episode” is the series’ last.

I am Totally not satisfied with the last episode… and I figured “The Game” was a Drama. It had nothing but drama.
I WAS HAPPY WITH THEM GETTING MARRIED I LOVE IT THE SHOW WAS OFF THE CHAIN AND FOR PEOPLE WHO SAY THAT IT WAS NOTHING BUT DRAMA YOUR EVERY DAY LIFE IS DRAMA I DID NOT THINK THE SHOW WAS DRAMA I THINK THEY WERE REAL AND THE SHOW WAS FUNNY
I think you are so right grl… Everyday we all have some shape n form of drama….. Its a part of life.. N if The Game had drama at least they showed you how to deal with it.
I am so not satisfied with them just ending the show with them just as gettin married… I think there should b another season so we can know how their marriage works out…. How his little boy by the other girl Janay turned out & If kelly and Jason ever get back together. N Jst all round it was a good show had a lot of humor… N for those who dont like they find something else to watch it….. Im tired of seein repeats I want to see 2010 epsoides…… Everyday I take the time out to watch this show please dont take it away from me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Say man I miss watching my favorite tv show and with all the crap that comes on tv now. Y cancel a hit tv show that relates to so many people in so many ways. So I beg some big cable network or CW to pick back up THE GAME. Please!!!!
First of all, when I first saw this show “The Game” I thought it was so stupid and boring. However, one of my best friends made me watch season 1 and before I knew it I was hooked. I love the DRAMA, comedy, parodies, romance, all the things that “The Game” brings.
By the seeing of how they ended season 3, I believe that they should not end it on that note, for there is Jason and Kelly’s relationship, Mel’s future in the medical field, Double D’s football career, and Malik who can forget about him? So many unanswered questions with many unsatisfied viewers.
So please CW, before you end “The Game” Think of the crappy shows you have on (i.e. Melrose Place, 90210, Smallville, the vampire show,…etc). BRING BACK THE GAME!!!
I am not satisfied with the ending, there definately needs to be a 4th season because the sitcom is really great….the entire cast for that matter. I’ve became one of the shows biggest fans and I would be displeased if it had to come to an end with season 3.

They never should have changed your slot. Plenty times I forgot to turn the channel to watch or would think about it when 10min of show was left. I love the show its funny and serious at the same time..Most of all it REAL
The game is a great show. It is ashame that it was cancelled. There were so many points that the show made. Myself and many others relate to the show in alot of ways. To me the show was full of great actors that made you feel like it was real. They were not amatures. I think it is a shame that they were not given a chance. However, if the actors still want to bring the show back than I really hope that there is a network that will bring them back; in my heart believe they deserve it. They really had a great vibe together. In the words of Derwin, “The proof is in the pudding, the proof is in the pudding.
I LOVED the last episode…..I truly felt Melanie’s pain when she was looking at Derwin’s baby boy……THANK GOD in the end she got her man!! =-)

no i was highly upset at how the last episode ended ! i feel that my favorite show should come back because that’s my favorite show and it shouldn’t have been cancelled anyway because it was some situations left unfinshed because im tired of seeing all these reruns because they makinq me want to see whats going to happen next and im just too anxious . so i think the series should come back.
Please bring The Game back. I couldn’t believe when my favorite show was taken away from me. I could relate to the show because I’ve been through some on the same drama and I also miss looking at my eye candy Derwin fine azz Davis! I’m lost without my show and I’m tired of black shows being taken off the air especially when they are juicy!
I love the game i have to watch it everyday bring my show back their’s nothing to watch on tv anymore . keep all of the the same cast and am ready to see if the baby is really darwins.
please bring ack the new game to toronto canada!!!!!! u can”t just leave us all hanging! the show was just starting to get hot and intersting.when the hour was up it was like u just wanted the next week to come so u could see what happens next. yo we all want to now what happens with derwin and mel cause she was always worryed about the baby coming in between her and derwin and now she was about to get married the biggest day of her life and BOOM!!!! the biggest boom droped, the baby on there big day. Come on bring it back people all over the world are woudering and waiting for it to come back. we are all tierd of the old ones. o and what is going on with jason and his x wife cause we all know kelly wants hime back!!!! please bring it back
