Undercovers: NBC Orders Four More Scripts for Low-Rated Show

UndercoversDespite being NBC’s lowest-rated scripted series on the weekday schedule, the network has ordered four more scripts for Undercovers, their new action series.

Starring Boris Kodjoe, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mekia Cox, Carter MacIntyre, Gerald McRaney, and Ben Schwartz, Undercovers debuted on NBC to a disappointing 2.1 rating in the target 18-49 demographic and 8.7 million total viewers.

In week two, the demo plummeted to a 1.6, a drop of 24%. The ratings have kept falling since then and hit a low of a 1.4 rating last week. It tied for fourth and last place in the timeslot with The CW’s America’s Next Top Model. When a major network ties with a show on The CW, you know they’re in some serious trouble.

TV show supportDespite all of that, NBC appears to be interested in ordering four more installments beyond the initial 13 episode order. The network is supposedly happy with the show creatively but unfortunately, with low ratings, that doesn’t translate into much ad revenue.

Regardless of whether NBC orders additional scripts or episodes, it looks certain that Undercovers is living on borrowed time.

What do you think? Why isn’t Undercovers performing better? What would you change about it or should it just be cancelled?

May be if the stars were a white couple..more people would watch. Wow talk about a country united. They still won’t give black people a chance. Yea I said it!!

LOVE THIS SHOW! But I do think it’s slow at times. Some of the greatest shows ever had a slow first season. It’s a shame this show won’t be given the opportunity to find it’s chemistry.

Ah Not the best of the season – Missing something! Seems like it is suppose to be a comedy, NOT and story line stupid, stupid, like it’s written for a 5th grader.

Who’s doing the ratings, who has Nielsen boxes…that’s what I want to know. The show is great and the chemistry of the actors are great. NBC, put a poll up on your site…I’m burn out of reality tv…it’s nice to actually have different programming for a change.

I love this show! It started a bit rocky but ech week it gets better. I think they need some
better stunt coordinators butother than that it’s aDecent show and I hope that it won’t get cancelled!

I agree with all those people who love this show. The action is marvelous. The travel is amazing. Story line refreshing. Can’t believe that more people have not discovered this excellent show. Hope all these comments make a difference

The show is great. The two stars have great chemistry. If I was to make any suggestions, I would say make the storyline deeper. Start bringing out why the couple was reinstated. Need to incorporate some more surprising punches like how “24” used to do it.

I LOVE this show & get a big kick out of it. I would HATE for it to be cancelled. It has that Mr. & Mrs. Smith feel to it.
Come on NBC promote, promote, promote!
