The executive producer of ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You has confirmed that the TV show has been cancelled after two seasons. How quickly things can change.
Based on the film of the same name that starred Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate About You revolves around two very different high school sisters and their friends and partners. The series features the talents of Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, Nicholas Braun, Dana Davis, Larry Miller, Kyle Kaplan, Ally Maki, Chris Zylka, Jolene Purdy, Allie Gonino, and Suzy Nakamura.
The series got off to a great start in July 2009 and ABC Family touted it as the cable channel’s biggest comedy debut to date. It attracted 1.6 million viewers and 734,000 in the coveted 18-49 demo. The news got even better by week four as the show’s ratings grew to 1.8 million viewers and 782,000 in the demo. Season one ended up averaging 1.3 million viewers.
To no surprise, ABC Family renewed the series for a second season of another 10 episodes.

Unfortunately, something happened between seasons one and two. When the 10 Things returned in late March, a lot of the show’s viewers didn’t. Thus far, it’s been averaging just 983,000 viewers. That’s enough for ABC Family to pull the plug, just 10 months after the show’s highly touted debut.
The show’s creator and executive producer, Carter Covington, announced the show’s fate on Twitter: “Sad news… ABCFamily canceled the show 🙁 Thanks 2 our AMAZING fans – U R the reason I do this! Enjoy the last 5 eps – they’re fantastic!”
The remaining five episodes of 10 Things will continue to roll out until May 31st. Since the cancellation comes as a surprise, there’s no word if the series finale will include closure or if storylines will be left unresolved.

im sorry the stupid cable company doesnt allow me to watch it on ABC Family cuz of the dumb conversion to digital and i dont qualify to get this channel anymore 🙁

I live in Canada but I still love the show. I’ll miss it, especially Lindsey and Ethan.
I hope that Kat and Patrick get a happy ending.

Why should we ever get interested in any show on ABC Family? And with what drivel will they replace a well written show like this one? This is one of the three or four on their network worth watching. I will not get involved in watching any new series on their network because they probably will cancel it just as I get interested.
Actually,the 10 episode order was a full season pickup that means it won’t be returning for a 2nd season.But I’m a fan of the show and I was dissapointed when I heard it was cancelled

OMFG! Please just keep the show! If you don’t I’ll tell all my friends that watch 10 Things I Hate About You about this and they will go ape **** and not even go onto ABC Family anymore : ( I’m so Sad. ABC Family, I actually looked foward to your network until you ruined my life! Gosh, VOTE ON THE CAMPAIGN EVERYONE!
They really shouldn’t cancel the show. I think its really good. I know a lot of people are going to be very disappointed when they hear this news. Unfortunately ABC Family doesn’t care what the actual viewers think about this. I think they should take a vote on their website to see if the show stays or goes because many people follow-up with the show on the internet. If anything they should have 1 more season to put the show to an end and not just leave the viewers they DO have hangin’!
I wish tv execs would stop trying to move their series that do perfectly well in the summer into the horror of fall/spring. They’ve done this time and again. Sometimes it works out for the show (Burn Notice, Leverage) but all it does for the fans is make them scramble and cut the summer season short when it’d actually be nice to have something new to watch besides crappy reality shows.
There is one standout characters on the show ala Dana Davis as Chastity but besides her character, nothing really special.

The show is great and one of the best ones out there! It can’t be cancelled! Many of the fans follow it up online!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It would be a shame for it not to continue 🙁
NOOOOOO!!!!!! I don’t live the US, but I LOVE the show. They must at least do one more season for Katrick to evolve and have a proper ending. Please?
