The executive producer of ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You has confirmed that the TV show has been cancelled after two seasons. How quickly things can change.
Based on the film of the same name that starred Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate About You revolves around two very different high school sisters and their friends and partners. The series features the talents of Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, Nicholas Braun, Dana Davis, Larry Miller, Kyle Kaplan, Ally Maki, Chris Zylka, Jolene Purdy, Allie Gonino, and Suzy Nakamura.
The series got off to a great start in July 2009 and ABC Family touted it as the cable channel’s biggest comedy debut to date. It attracted 1.6 million viewers and 734,000 in the coveted 18-49 demo. The news got even better by week four as the show’s ratings grew to 1.8 million viewers and 782,000 in the demo. Season one ended up averaging 1.3 million viewers.
To no surprise, ABC Family renewed the series for a second season of another 10 episodes.

Unfortunately, something happened between seasons one and two. When the 10 Things returned in late March, a lot of the show’s viewers didn’t. Thus far, it’s been averaging just 983,000 viewers. That’s enough for ABC Family to pull the plug, just 10 months after the show’s highly touted debut.
The show’s creator and executive producer, Carter Covington, announced the show’s fate on Twitter: “Sad news… ABCFamily canceled the show 🙁 Thanks 2 our AMAZING fans – U R the reason I do this! Enjoy the last 5 eps – they’re fantastic!”
The remaining five episodes of 10 Things will continue to roll out until May 31st. Since the cancellation comes as a surprise, there’s no word if the series finale will include closure or if storylines will be left unresolved.

well, first of all, i would like to know what ACTORS think about it….but i sure hope they like this tv show, because canceling it is NOOOOO WWWAAAY! thing….i just want to know how we can get it back?….i’m hooked up, I EVEN DIDN’T SLEEP WHOLE NIGHT TO JUST WATCH ALL 20 EPISODES!!!!so plz, AT LEAST FINISH THIS TV SHOW WITH “NOEMAL” ENDING, BECAUSE THE ENDING IN SEASON 2 IS NOT AN ENDING, BUT AN ENDING THAT MAKES THE 3RD SEASON REQUIREMENT!!!!!!

OMG! I was in love with this show and am very made at ABC for cancelling another amazing show! I am really tired of this happening and I am beginning to think that maybe I should just stop watching ABC if this continues. I do not want to get caught up in another show if this is going to continue to happen to all of the good shows!!! FML
Actually i really liked the show, and it shocked me when i heard that they canceled it. i think it is not fair to leave the storyline unresolved. i hope that the show’s creator and executive producer look through this again and return the show.
I loved this show..my sister just told me about it ending and I’m totally shocked and sad..I hope ABC Family changes their minds or another station decides to buy the series..
THIS WAS MY FRIDAY NITES SHOW …. I LOVED this show #1 on ACB … I ‘m disappointesd on the final episodes and the way it ended … … they need two more episodes to tell the story line. they need to fix the ending and not leave us hanging,…

I as well had a lot going on around the last aired episodes (my senior year and sports etc.) and ALWAYS watched the missed episodes online. I loved the movie and loved this show, sucks they cancelled it. At the very least they could have made one more episode to tie the loose ends.
I loved this show!!!! My sister just showed me it and i fell in love with it on the spot! I have the movie but the show goes more in depth and it is utterly amazing! I am really disappointed that they are canceling the show and i really want to know what happens next. =`[
no they shouldnt have cancelled it!!!!!that was such a huge mistake! did they ever think thatppl started to get busy and they might oh started watching it online?!? bc thats why i did, the show was getting so good too! and how they ended it???? if you want to cancell agood show can you at least have a good decent ending????i mean seriously!!!!
This is sooo sad it should not have been cancelled i can’t believe this!!! I watched this show every Friday on Hulu b/c of my work schedule, this SUCKS!!!
I couldn’t watch it anywhere else but online! It went digital and i have regular cable, I’m going to miss this show. ABCF SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m not even going to watch Pretty Little Liars, even if i read all the books. That’s how strong i feel, I’m never watching ABCF. Doesn’t matter either way.
By law all shows should end with a proper closing no cliffhangers or loose ends should be left for the viewer to decide what might have happened
thats totally unnesscary to cancel the show … i mean just because some ppl decided not to watch it anymore doesnt mean you show cancel the show!!!!!!there are still 983,000 ppl out there who want to know what the freak happens ??? jezz that just makes me sooo mad that they would do that!!!
THEY BETTER FINISH THE SEASON OR I OUGHTA….OR I OUGHTA…. OK I got nothin’ ;). However, this is my second favorite show, second only to Glee. If they cancel this, my Fridays shall be BORING (As I watch on Hulu and they come out 4 days late.) They made a HORRIBLE decision in my opinion, as this show is amazing.
I always watched it online as well, Brooke. I never missed an episode! This show was awesome, one of the few really great ones on ABCFamily. Needless to say, I will no longer be watching ABCFamily as there are no more entertaining shows.
