The executive producer of ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You has confirmed that the TV show has been cancelled after two seasons. How quickly things can change.
Based on the film of the same name that starred Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate About You revolves around two very different high school sisters and their friends and partners. The series features the talents of Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, Nicholas Braun, Dana Davis, Larry Miller, Kyle Kaplan, Ally Maki, Chris Zylka, Jolene Purdy, Allie Gonino, and Suzy Nakamura.
The series got off to a great start in July 2009 and ABC Family touted it as the cable channel’s biggest comedy debut to date. It attracted 1.6 million viewers and 734,000 in the coveted 18-49 demo. The news got even better by week four as the show’s ratings grew to 1.8 million viewers and 782,000 in the demo. Season one ended up averaging 1.3 million viewers.
To no surprise, ABC Family renewed the series for a second season of another 10 episodes.

Unfortunately, something happened between seasons one and two. When the 10 Things returned in late March, a lot of the show’s viewers didn’t. Thus far, it’s been averaging just 983,000 viewers. That’s enough for ABC Family to pull the plug, just 10 months after the show’s highly touted debut.
The show’s creator and executive producer, Carter Covington, announced the show’s fate on Twitter: “Sad news… ABCFamily canceled the show 🙁 Thanks 2 our AMAZING fans – U R the reason I do this! Enjoy the last 5 eps – they’re fantastic!”
The remaining five episodes of 10 Things will continue to roll out until May 31st. Since the cancellation comes as a surprise, there’s no word if the series finale will include closure or if storylines will be left unresolved.

I love this show and I am soo dad they are canceling it. Well at least I have the coffee table book About Face so I can look at Ethan Peck.

Not surprised the idiots at ABC Family decided to pull the plug.
There is so much garbage on t.v., I really looked forward to this show. It was witty, had backbone and really made a lot of sense. Loved the campiness, and it got a genuine laugh out of me each week. I don’t think there was a big push by ABC to announce when season 2 would air, and as a result, I’m sure people didn’t tune in. Okay. Why cancel it? A lot of people are losing their satellite providers, thus fewer people watching on that night! People still watch the show!!! I know I look forward to being able to watch the episode on Tuesdays…or the earliest they are put up…Its really sad to think that the show is cancelled. Completely WRONG decision.
Just saying my honest opinion.
this show should be broughten back abc show change the spot from mondays to another day and if abc sees this they should bring this back and lincoln heights, cause secret life got boring and now its pretty much about the same things, make it or break it is ok and that new show pretty little liars that better be good, but guess what? until then they lost a viewer. :\
i really like this show and Secret life and Greek.I would have never even considered watching the family channel if it were not 4 these great shows.i have to admit i liked The Middleman even though it was alittle weird and a differnt kind of taste like not mainsteam at all.I also like lincoln Heights but it grew old quick and kinda fizzled out but sage was an interresting character who probably needed a spin off show of her own.i hope ABC family has a good replacement in the works.Holla!!!!!
The thing is that the show gap was wayyy too long—6-8 months. That’s literally an eon in a tv viewer’s eyes…

I had been trying to watch shows on ABC family for a long time now, and I couldn’t enjoy anything until ’10 Things I Hate About You’ aired. I was in love with it. I am very displeased that they are canceling it. I mean, I know they dropped in views, but it was still a great show for me. All of my friends love it, and I always invite them over to watch it with me. 🙁 I don’t think they should cancel it; I think they should renew it for another season. I really enjoy this show. 🙁 It was nice to have a 30 minute sit-com on ABC family for a change.
It’s awful. I don’t understand it at all… I certainly hope they will allow at least one more episode to tie up loose ends.

While I did really like this show, and it sucks that they cancel it…don’t bad mouth Make it or Break it, which is a great show itself. Now Secret Life…that has bad writing and acting for sure, Make it or Break It and 10 Things were the exact opposite.
