The executive producer of ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You has confirmed that the TV show has been cancelled after two seasons. How quickly things can change.
Based on the film of the same name that starred Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate About You revolves around two very different high school sisters and their friends and partners. The series features the talents of Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, Nicholas Braun, Dana Davis, Larry Miller, Kyle Kaplan, Ally Maki, Chris Zylka, Jolene Purdy, Allie Gonino, and Suzy Nakamura.
The series got off to a great start in July 2009 and ABC Family touted it as the cable channel’s biggest comedy debut to date. It attracted 1.6 million viewers and 734,000 in the coveted 18-49 demo. The news got even better by week four as the show’s ratings grew to 1.8 million viewers and 782,000 in the demo. Season one ended up averaging 1.3 million viewers.
To no surprise, ABC Family renewed the series for a second season of another 10 episodes.

Unfortunately, something happened between seasons one and two. When the 10 Things returned in late March, a lot of the show’s viewers didn’t. Thus far, it’s been averaging just 983,000 viewers. That’s enough for ABC Family to pull the plug, just 10 months after the show’s highly touted debut.
The show’s creator and executive producer, Carter Covington, announced the show’s fate on Twitter: “Sad news… ABCFamily canceled the show 🙁 Thanks 2 our AMAZING fans – U R the reason I do this! Enjoy the last 5 eps – they’re fantastic!”
The remaining five episodes of 10 Things will continue to roll out until May 31st. Since the cancellation comes as a surprise, there’s no word if the series finale will include closure or if storylines will be left unresolved.

A lot of people loved this show! my whole family would watch it. maybe they didn’t really announce the return of the show. someone should email the writer to give the show one more chance. everyone ahould help to bring this show back PLEASE!! leave a comment below mine to agree and maybe then by e-mailing someone we could motivate the writers and producers to bring it back. all of the viewers would really appreciate it!!!!:)
Why would ABC do this?!?!?! I mean sure, I just finished watching the series today on Hulu, but if I watched it when I knew I should have (the day it came to television) maybe..just maybe there could have been more seasons. And I bet a lot of people feel the same. I just don’t understand how the producers of ABC Family can ignore all the requests for this fantastic show..

Bring back the best tv show ever I just started watching this on netflix I watched 20 eps just to find out it’s not playing again. How Many eps r there because I got left where the fad catches the oldest daughter kat in bed with Patrick I can’t be left at that

To end I hope they start again. Just do it for the fans I know everyone wants to watch it, I’m so desperate to see it again but if it’s not possible then—>> 🙁 but I hope I really do that somehow it START AGAIN 🙂

OMG i cant believe that they cancelled this show with just a hang cliffer! its so stupid to keep “the secret life of an american teenager” the girl keeps gettin pregnant! then her mom does, and all her friends do, its really stupid! like how far can you go with a girl getting pregnant? i loved this show, i loved the movie, ABC Family is trippen balls or somethin 🙁

Ugh why did it have to end?? I loved this show and the ending left me hanging!!
I think what happened to all those viewers wasn’t because of interest, it was because that’s when the cable companies finally pulled the plug on everyone who didn’t switch over to digital soon enough. (well, that’s my excuse >< I missed that whole season because of that LOL!)
What the hell, it was a good show with comedy and romance perfect combination by the way. I don’t understand why they still have the show “The Secret Life of an American Teenager” I mean it really getting annoying. Girl keep getting pregnant and switching to another guy its pointless.
I’m truly sad this show got canceled. I didn’t get a chance to watch it on the tv or anything but I just watched it on “Hulu”. I wish I had watched it on tv sooner. maybe helped it’s chances or they start another 10 episodes or something. I really enjoyed watching this an I truly wish I could find out what happens : /
I couldn’t believe it. This was one of the shows my wife and I enjoyed watching with our daughters. It had great teenage topics that didn’t revolve ONLY around sex; like the show they kept “Secret life of an American Teenager”. Definitely got this wrong for families who tune in to ABC Family for family programming.
