The executive producer of ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You has confirmed that the TV show has been cancelled after two seasons. How quickly things can change.
Based on the film of the same name that starred Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate About You revolves around two very different high school sisters and their friends and partners. The series features the talents of Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, Nicholas Braun, Dana Davis, Larry Miller, Kyle Kaplan, Ally Maki, Chris Zylka, Jolene Purdy, Allie Gonino, and Suzy Nakamura.
The series got off to a great start in July 2009 and ABC Family touted it as the cable channel’s biggest comedy debut to date. It attracted 1.6 million viewers and 734,000 in the coveted 18-49 demo. The news got even better by week four as the show’s ratings grew to 1.8 million viewers and 782,000 in the demo. Season one ended up averaging 1.3 million viewers.
To no surprise, ABC Family renewed the series for a second season of another 10 episodes.

Unfortunately, something happened between seasons one and two. When the 10 Things returned in late March, a lot of the show’s viewers didn’t. Thus far, it’s been averaging just 983,000 viewers. That’s enough for ABC Family to pull the plug, just 10 months after the show’s highly touted debut.
The show’s creator and executive producer, Carter Covington, announced the show’s fate on Twitter: “Sad news… ABCFamily canceled the show 🙁 Thanks 2 our AMAZING fans – U R the reason I do this! Enjoy the last 5 eps – they’re fantastic!”
The remaining five episodes of 10 Things will continue to roll out until May 31st. Since the cancellation comes as a surprise, there’s no word if the series finale will include closure or if storylines will be left unresolved.

I am sooooooooo disgusted!!!! 10 things I hate about you is loved by so many people around the world. It is unfortunate that ABC tv releases amazing shows and cuts it off, half way…..its like ruining an ****** moment!!! How can ABC do this to viewers….we need to see atleast more of Patrick and Kat……that was just saaaaaw unfair……I hope ABC isnt planning to cut off any other shows…if Pretty little liars goes….then ABC as a station should be cut off itself. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr im saaaaaw furious

This show is AMAZING. I am really upset that they cancelled it. I didnt here about this show until recently, i watched both seasons online, they were AMAZING. Maybe if this show would of put up more ads then more people would’ve watched it. 🙁 *Sighhh* Im so disappointed i hope the producers come on this website and see all the disappointed fans :'( They should give at least gave us a decent ending, they left us hanging on the climax of the show. to be honest im seriously dissipointed. I know they canceled it and alll because off viewers but what about the actually viewers? They think they were suffering who the hell cares… where the ones that suffer we finally watch a show when its actully based on real life and real issues i dont know about everyone else but i was able to learn alot. This show was the greatest show. Every Thursday i would look forward to it. and wait and suffer threw the week to see a new 1 but y punish the actual viewers. I hope they do… Read more »

Dear ABC Family, I SOOO think you should bring the show back!!! I LOVE “10 Things I Hate About You”. It is one of my favorites. Why was the show cancelled??? I see that the viewer ratings dropped, but I think if you kept the show going, the viewers would’ve came back. You can’t just leave us in wait of what happened with Kat and Patrick or Bianca and Joey! You NEED to bring the show back! There are so many loose strings. Sure, okay, I wasn’t happy that they were remaking 10 Things I Hate About You as a TV series, but once I actually watched the show, I was really impressed with it. I loved this show, and once again ABCFamily has made a BIG MISTAKE by taking it away. They did the same thing with Ruby and the Rockits and Huge. because alot of people who are in charge of stuff like shows and movies and **** dont give a crap about the veiwers but how much the can make off the show and stick in their pockets. What is showbizz coming to these days wen it aint about doing it for the fans but to make a quick buck ;( we live in sad sad times

Why cancel this show when Season 2 had the best finale ever!! This is why television is starting to go down, because who ever is in charge always decides to cancel shows when the ending get’s good. I wanted to know what was going to happen to Kat, but NOOO it had to get canceled. At least come back with one more good season. Fans of this show would highly appreciate it.
I agree completely! They can’t just leave us in wait. I want to see what happens to Kat also. I think at least one more amazing season would be great. And if they have another amazing season, then the viewers could even triple! Then, they could maybe continue with some more seasons. 😀
