The executive producer of ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You has confirmed that the TV show has been cancelled after two seasons. How quickly things can change.
Based on the film of the same name that starred Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate About You revolves around two very different high school sisters and their friends and partners. The series features the talents of Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, Nicholas Braun, Dana Davis, Larry Miller, Kyle Kaplan, Ally Maki, Chris Zylka, Jolene Purdy, Allie Gonino, and Suzy Nakamura.
The series got off to a great start in July 2009 and ABC Family touted it as the cable channel’s biggest comedy debut to date. It attracted 1.6 million viewers and 734,000 in the coveted 18-49 demo. The news got even better by week four as the show’s ratings grew to 1.8 million viewers and 782,000 in the demo. Season one ended up averaging 1.3 million viewers.
To no surprise, ABC Family renewed the series for a second season of another 10 episodes.

Unfortunately, something happened between seasons one and two. When the 10 Things returned in late March, a lot of the show’s viewers didn’t. Thus far, it’s been averaging just 983,000 viewers. That’s enough for ABC Family to pull the plug, just 10 months after the show’s highly touted debut.
The show’s creator and executive producer, Carter Covington, announced the show’s fate on Twitter: “Sad news… ABCFamily canceled the show 🙁 Thanks 2 our AMAZING fans – U R the reason I do this! Enjoy the last 5 eps – they’re fantastic!”
The remaining five episodes of 10 Things will continue to roll out until May 31st. Since the cancellation comes as a surprise, there’s no word if the series finale will include closure or if storylines will be left unresolved.

They made a poor decision at cancelling. The reason that the ratings dropped was because it was on at a poor time and poor day. It competes with House MD, One Tree Hill and other shows that people like. I can only record 2 shows in my DVR at the same time and cant watch any other tv channel other than the 2 recording. 10 Things interferred with One Tree Hill and House. As a fan of both the movie and the show I think ABC Family just lost a viewer… Canceling this show just ruin the attration of watching the channel period! 10 Things I hate about you was the only show i watched on ABC Family and not even just me but my entire family… it was funny and amazing and now with it concluding lets just hope they end it right and not let it go off LAME!
ok, no offense to those that like secret life but how in the hell does that show still continue while 10 things gets cancelled?!?! 10 things has good acting, couples that arent ridiculously dramatic, and heart..wtf…!!!!!
Not a good decision to cancel “10 Things” ! My teenage daughter and I usually watch the
show together. We also liked the movie and this show is awesome! Bad time to have it on-
we usually have to DVR it and watch later. Couldn’t ABC Family just ry it on a different night??
NO, NO, NO, NO!!!! ABC made a HORRIBLE decision by cancelling this show…it’s the ONLY show on ABCFamily that I watch…I DO NOT want this show to be cancelled!!!

NOOOOO!! I love this show soo much. It is my favorite ever!! Please dont end it. I can briing up the viewers its so awesome it is way too good to end after just two seasons please dont end it!!! You may noot have as many viewers as last season but think of all the fans you are disappointing!
awww that suck i loved it and im gonna be very sad that it got cancelled no they did a wrong decison well people need to start watchn make it and break it before that gets cancelled so plz at least help me keep one show on abc when it gets back its returns june 28th for the 2nd season
what the heck i love this show it is my fave me and my friends always watch it but sense the day changed i was the only one to stay watching it and i record over the hill which is on at the same time. No they didn’t make a good decision… but they also should never have had it on at 8 on a Monday night. It’s competing with House, M.D, Chuck, One Tree Hill, and many others…
Why is it that the shows worth watching are ALWAYS cancelled??? There is nothing but filth on tv these days. This is the only show I watch on this channelbecause the others are quite boring. Keep 10 Things alive!!
