The executive producer of ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You has confirmed that the TV show has been cancelled after two seasons. How quickly things can change.
Based on the film of the same name that starred Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Heath Ledger, 10 Things I Hate About You revolves around two very different high school sisters and their friends and partners. The series features the talents of Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, Nicholas Braun, Dana Davis, Larry Miller, Kyle Kaplan, Ally Maki, Chris Zylka, Jolene Purdy, Allie Gonino, and Suzy Nakamura.
The series got off to a great start in July 2009 and ABC Family touted it as the cable channel’s biggest comedy debut to date. It attracted 1.6 million viewers and 734,000 in the coveted 18-49 demo. The news got even better by week four as the show’s ratings grew to 1.8 million viewers and 782,000 in the demo. Season one ended up averaging 1.3 million viewers.
To no surprise, ABC Family renewed the series for a second season of another 10 episodes.

Unfortunately, something happened between seasons one and two. When the 10 Things returned in late March, a lot of the show’s viewers didn’t. Thus far, it’s been averaging just 983,000 viewers. That’s enough for ABC Family to pull the plug, just 10 months after the show’s highly touted debut.
The show’s creator and executive producer, Carter Covington, announced the show’s fate on Twitter: “Sad news… ABCFamily canceled the show 🙁 Thanks 2 our AMAZING fans – U R the reason I do this! Enjoy the last 5 eps – they’re fantastic!”
The remaining five episodes of 10 Things will continue to roll out until May 31st. Since the cancellation comes as a surprise, there’s no word if the series finale will include closure or if storylines will be left unresolved.

I don’t understand how the producers can call last night’s 2 episodes a “series finale.” Nothing was resolved; what happened after Dad found Kat and Patrick in bed? Who won the “Poser” show? Did Chastity really go to another school? How about Cameron’s gay friend? Where did he go? Did Dad ever see the light about “Brenda”? Really a crummy way to end a series. I would love to protest but I don’t know how.
I cannot believe they cancelled this amazing show! I am loving it and I have fallen in love with the characters. Please make more! I am officially addicited to 10 Things I Hate About You!!!!!!!
I can’t believe they would end the show like that. There are soo many questions left unanswered. I mean what’ll happen to Kat and Patrick and Bianca and Joey?? I mean come on they can’t do this. It’s completely unfair to the people who ACTUALLY enjoy watching the show.
I can’t believe that they have the nerve to cancel this show, it’s the best show running and the ONLY reason why I even switch on or even visit the ABC channel & website. I’m always at the edge of my seat to find out what’s going to happen next Monday when the show comes on and now they are going to take that away? I am fumming mad that my favorte so has to go. This show is why i watch tv. I love this show. the cancelation has taken be by suprise. I just watched the last episode it was good, but problems were unresolved. It was a cliff hanger. I didnt know that it was being cancled until today during the show. My heart hurt to see such a wonderful show go like it did. the station could have given it at least one more season. THIS BITES REALLY BAD. 🙁 WWWHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYY???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was a fantastic show and I am shocked it was cancelled. And the finale was definitely a cliffhanger meant for a season finale, not a series finale! At the very least they should make another episode and put it on the season 2 dvd. I will miss the show and campaign for ABC Family to bring it back!!
I can’t believe they canceled 10 things I hate about you.there are so many other shows that should be cut from the network besides this one. Maybe secret life? Greek? This was definitely one of the better sitcoms ABC has had for a while. OMG and the finale! Amazing! That would of kept people coming back for many more seasons. They need the show to have another chance. Plus more publicity. Completely disappointed with ABC.

I cant believe they cancelled the show! and the way the ended it was not the way they should have ended a series. they need to come out with another series finale to tie the ends together. a series finale should never end like any other episode!
i am very upset tht this show was cancelled. it was the only show tht i like the last ep i saw left a huge hole. kat and patrick having sex when kats dad walks in. joey kissing a model while bianca cries. chastity moving to another school. i hope with all my life tht ABC family will bring this show back to tie loose ends
OMG. I TOTAL AGREE. I JUST WATCHED WHAT YOU WATCHED, AND LET ME TELL YOU I AM SO MAD THAT THEY LEFT IT THE WAY THAT THEY DID LETS CROSS OUR FINGERS HOPE TO SOMETHING THAT ABC WILL PULL THEIR HEADS OUT OF THE GROUND AND BRING THE SHOW BACK.
i can not believe that they are cancelling my favorite show. it is the only good things on a boring monday, and its the only reason i like mondays. i can’t wait until it comes on. i am so mad that they are cancelling it. tear tear tear. i mean come on 1.2 million is not bad at all, in disney channel the sitll have this show PHINEAS AND FERB, that only gets 8 million. so i know you can still do the show.
They need to put this show back on the so much etter than secret life and Greek combined I am sooo mad about this

Omg!!!!! I loved this show. I can’t believe there isn’t going to be a season three!!!!!!!!! 10things I hate about you was absolutely the BEST! The season finale was great.you can’t just leave the show like that with nothing for viewers all over the world to look forward to. I hope a miracle occurs and the show will come back on and continue for many times after that!!!!!!

i cant believe that they cancelled the show!! i absolutely LOVE this show, it’s what makes mondays bearable!! please at least make another spin-off for it or give us a real series finale, not some stupid one that keeps you wonderring and wanting more like they did. who knows, maybe they did it on purpose to get more viewers and a reaction…….. well it worked!
