The eighth — and very possibly final — season of 24 kicked off last night. As is typical, poor Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is in for a very bad day.
This season of 24 is set in New York, giving the cast and crew a very different backdrop. Cherry Jones, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and Annie Wersching are back as series regulars. Others in the cast include Mykelti Williamson, Chris Diamantopoulos, Katee Sackhoff, John Boyd, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Anil Kapoor. Elisha Cuthbert and Bob Gunton are back in recurring roles and hopefully fan-favorite Glenn Morshower will also put in an appearance.
It looks like a very real possibility that this will be the final season of 24. FOX Entertainment President Kevin Reilly noted that season eight is the last season under the network’s current contract. He said, “There are a lot of moving parts, so we’re not sure what will happen after that.”

A lot of that has to do with Kiefer Sutherland’s willingness to continue doing the series and he has mixed feelings. He recently told Parade, “What’s important to me is maintaining the quality of the show. It’s not about whether people are going to watch it or not, it’s whether we feel the show is about to take a dip. That would be when everybody would want it to end.”
The actor continued, “I would love to do 24 until I was 60, but I don’t think anybody would accept it. Part of what’s driving us is that we believe that we’re capable of making a perfect season. I don’t believe any of us have felt that we’ve done that. And every year we’ve learned something that made us go, ‘Oh God, I wish I could fix that or do that better.'”

Please bring back another season of 24. It’s the best show on TV
24 has stuttered around the 9-12 rating since it came on the air and it’s still going strong compared to 90% of broadcast television. Although I hope it stays on the air for another 2-4 seasons, you can’t help but recognize the fact that these actors are growing up and need to find new turf to perform on. Maybe even consider throwing Jack out or relegating him to a supporting cast member to pave the way for a new Jack. Please, please, please do not cancel 24! More than ever we need a show that reminds us that freedom isn’t free and terrorists need to be treated as such. Jack Bauer may be fiction, but the importance of his actions is very real.
24 is the best show out there, probably the best show ever. Please do not cancel it! I will have to give up watching TV since there will be nothing decent on.

NO! Please don’t cancel 24. I have watched it from the beginning and have loved every minute of it. I own all seasons of 24 and will contiune to watch it no matter how old Jack is. Great show. leave it on
Look here…24 is the best thing that has ever happened and my family and i have been watching it from the start…i would love to watch him forever and i you can do a lot with 24. the creativty is endless…why not go to Dallas, TX for next season…something like that…think about it

I wouldn’t have a problem with watching Jack if he were 60. But if it won’t be good for ratings, it would be a better idea to bring a replacement or supporting actor/actress rather than an altogether cancellation. It’s too great of a series. Turning to a fresh, new page in the series could be very worth following – it’s still receiving great ratings though CTU LA was shut down as the major setting a few seasons back. Wow! Jack Bauer vs Martian terrorists! What a concept! Here’s another…Jack Bauer vs Zombie terrorists! Everything’s better with Zombies! They could have all the bad guys that Jack has killed over the years come back from the dead with the BIGGEST and BADDEST terror plot ever all the while chompin’ on some brains! Could you imagine? Zombie versions of Nina Myers, Victor Drazen, Ramon and Hector Salazar, Habib Marwan, Graem and Phillip Bauer, and Christopher Henderson…plus all their lackeys and henchmen…all led by Ryan Chappelle who’s still mad because Jack shot him in the back of the head! 24 Is the best thing that ever happened to TV and Kiefer is amazing. I think it should continue its simply getting better each year. Series seven was by far my favourite and i am so excited about series 8. Keep playing Jack Kiefer your amazing x
i’d watch 24 as long as kiefer sutherland stays as jack baur. this is one of my favorite show, but keifer must stay as jack.
i’d watch it as long as Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub are still on ,the story could be going to fight terrorists on Mars (I hope and know it won’t come to that) but the point is I’ll still watch as a long as its on
I’d watch until Kiefer was 60…it’d be great seeing Jack Bauer whacking the bad guys in the back of the head with a cane or crashing his walker over their backs and chasing them on his hoveround…awesome stuff!
i think the quality of the show has improved and now, renee walker is also in the bizzwacks, and it added a new appeal to the show, so i think that it should continue, with chloe and jack’s daughter and granddaughter.. for at least 2 more days… i dont really know what will happen this season, but its gonna be as great as the last. and that’s, for now, good enought for me. lol. 24 til season 10 then, the network can call it quits. if smallville can, why not? =)
Bring Jack back! Since we have an administration that unbelievably gives foreign terrorists Constitutional rights, it’s great to have an outlet that gives them the rights they deserve.
