Last year, the ratings for The Affair TV show on Showtime dropped off quite a bit, and the series lost all the gains it made the year before (and then some). It is unclear how much ratings will matter in the fourth season. Originally, co-creator Sarah Treem had three seasons planned, and after it was picked up for season four, she said she thought this would be a good time to draw the story to a close. We’re still tracking the ratings though, because nothing is official. Will The Affair be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned.
A Showtime drama, The Affair stars Dominic West, Maura Tierney, Ruth Wilson, and Joshua Jackson. Sanaa Lathan joins in season four, and guest stars include Ramon Rodriguez, Russell Hornsby, Christopher Meyer, Amy Irving, and Phoebe Tonkin. The series explores the consequences of an affair that destroyed two marriages, as well as the crime that reunites the people involved. This season, Noah (West), Helen (Tierney), Alison (Wilson), and Cole (Jackson) have each gone their own way. Now they must decide whether they can leave the past behind and if forgiveness is ever possible. **Status update below.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you still like The Affair TV series? Is this the right time to end this Showtime TV show?
**7/26/2018 Status Update: The Affair has been renewed for season five, which will be the final installment. Details here.
I love Season 4 …almost gave up on it but I think this year has gotten really juicy !!!
I have been a fan since season one. I hope Cole and Alison end up back together! Please save Vic, he is good for Helen. Noah keep up your bad boy persona…it fits you well! Maybe viewership will revive after summer break so we can look forward to season 5.
Love season 4 so far….hoping ratings come up so we have a season 5… love this show
I’m curious, are there adjustments made for time of year? The Affair last played in the fall and winter, is now playing during the summer. Are there seasonal changes in viewerships? Perhaps dramas are less watched during the summer. It certainly seems to be assumed by the movie industry, I wonder if it’s true and taken into account by television…
