Bad news for fans of All My Children and One Life to Live. The soap operas were cancelled by ABC, revived online by Prospect Park and it seems have now been cancelled again.
There’s been no official word from Prospect Park but actress Children Debbi Morgan tweeted “My manager ws given the news that we were officially done by PP’s lawyer” “I guess what really hurts my gut R all the positive proclamations I gave 2 all of U that we’d definitely coming back.” “Bcuz those were the earnest proclamations we’d been given! I’m so very sorry2 2c U disappointed yet again & believe me we feel the same!!!” “Thanks 4 all the support & luv U gave hoping this would work. We never know what’s in God’s plan. I do know there’s always a bigger picture!” “Thanks For The Memories…”

If you aren’t hearing anything about the ending of AMC as we know it, it’s really out of shock. I am also trying to allow PP to have the moment to contact all the actors and explain what is and has been going on with AMC, and then gather themselves to try and explain it all to you, the fans.
I can confirm what Debbie Morgan has shared already, that we were given assurances that we would be continuing with the series and then were very recently contacted and told that, with great regret, AMC won’t be going back online this year, or in this particular incarnation. Certainly hope springs eternal that we will yet again, spring from the dead.
I do feel confident in sharing my opinion that PP and all “the powers that be” involved in making AMC and OLTL truly loved the shows and did their utmost to make continuing them possible. The premiere in NYC was one of the most exciting moments I have had the privilege to be a part of in my career. I am not privy to the behind the scenes decisions, however. Like you, I can only experience those choices second hand and guess at the reasons why this is happening now.
Instead of going into the “What Went Wrong” question, I think I’d rather focus on the gratitude I feel for having been asked to continue with the show. If I am still wanted as an actor on daytime, it is all because of YOU, the FANS.
I am so very grateful for your support. To have had the opportunity to be a part of an innovative experience that strived to keep American soaps alive via a new medium, to be a part of the continuing fabric of your lives through daytime storytelling, and to be able to work with dear friends who I’ve known all my life was a very special experience for which I have you to thank.
So THANK YOU for all the cheering, love, and support, daytime family. You’ve been AWESOME.
One Life to Live was put on indefinite hiatus pending the outcome of a lawsuit with ABC. It seems very likely that it has been cancelled as well.
What do you think? Are you sorry that the shows have been cancelled once again? Did you watch the online versions?
I was devastated when the news first hit about these two shows being cancelled. Devastated! As so many have expressed, these were two iconic shows that were a part of our lives for decades—these characters became a part of OUR families and we loved them. We also loved the actors who brought these characters to us just as much. And now I am DEEPLY saddened by the news of the cancelation of these two iconic shows YET again (I did a google search to find out WHAT happened to these shows as I have been waiting for their return to… Read more »
I am disappointed that One Life To Live is on a hiatus status. I love the show, I have watched it for a very long time and have come to love the characters also. I admit that I let some time go between watching episodes but with is online I knew that I could pick up where I left off. I finished the first season looking forward to the second season with anticipation only to find that it wasn’t there. My plea is that you please return the show.
a per this sucks
I now watch General Hospital only. I’m perfectly happy with the best soap on television and was not thrilled with the 2013 AMC. Most of the show was based on quirky relationships and revamped dead themes – storylines. I gave it a try , but I could only watch three weeks of AMC. I did give OLTL more time, it was good, but AMC seemed to be flat and like deja vue all over again. I didn’t care for the “language” and my mom found it awful for her age group. Just because it’s online, doesn’t mean you can turn… Read more »
I watched AMC since the day it started and was shocked when they canceled it on tv. When it went to Hulu I was so happy and spread the word to my friends that watched it to. I got hooked on 1 Life 2 Live shortly after it started so I watched it on Hulu also. I have been checking Hulu regularly to see if there were any new episodes…..Guess this explains why I haven’t found any. Why do they do this to us! Yes I am disappointed… Miss them both.
I am 62 and have watched both MAC abd OLTL since I was nine. I was and am very distort that it was taken off not once but twice. These shows took you away from your everyday problems. The second time for them wasn’t as good as the first in the begin but got used to everyone grown up. Now you have taken it way again only to leave us with reality how’s and cooking shows! Bring back our soaps… we ( the older people) don’t want these ridiculous young kid reality shows and cooking shows .There are enough channels… Read more »
I agree with Ronnie….I have watched both of these shows since their inception. I don’t agree with some of the story lines on either of them …… but no one ever agrees with every little thing anyway…..the point is we grew up with these characters and they were our family……I personally watched my soaps on SOAPNet, which is now defunct, so I never watch the replacements…..who does? If I was home I would definitely NOT watch them. It won’t be long before they too will be off the air because no one watches them!
I was really dissopointed when they were no longer on TV. and then when they became acailable on huluplue, I bought huluplus. I was dissipointed they had changed so much, but thought that as long as they kept some of the older acters, I could get use to the new ones. and then low and behold, they cancelled them. I guess if they brought them back, I would like to see more epesodes with out all that other bru ha ha … But all and all YES, I wish they would bring them back …
I considered oltl a large part of my family it will b a true shame to lose it again
hate it hate it been watching amc and oltl for years since they first came on and i was loving the online shows i wish abc would leave these shows along and let them do thir best. i love them hurry back.
Just started watching AMC recently online and just when I started getting involved it’s going away again. It was nice seeing some of the old character’s.
This was difficult to watch this on the computer so I was happy to see it on OWN. Then it ended. I am sorry to say goodbye again.
I kind of saw this coming when I heard the shows were back then the episodes got slashed from four to two a week. It was a good run and I enjoyed being able to see some of my fave characters back. Just sucks that this is another show left in a cliffhanger that we’ll never know the end of.
I thought it was going well. Lot of the original characters were back. I hope it somehow returns. I was a faithful viewer.
Except for General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, Y&R, B&B, soaps have run their course. The mentioned soaps, have exciting story lines or more realistic. I watched AMC and OLTL 2013, both shows were good, but it was difficult to watch online. Soaps need familiar faces, for fans to respond emotionally. Too many new characters and too many high school scenes, didn’t help. The older fans had nothing to hold them in my opinion. OLTL did a little better, but it wasn’t the same show. I know they tired and the actors did an amazing job, as they always have,… Read more »
THIS REALLY SUCKS BIG TIME!
I hope maybe cable with give AMC & OLTL a chance.
The actors were amazing, but not have Tad back with Dixie right away, might have donw the show in. The acting is amazing, but the writing needed some work,
I don’t think they were given enough time. Too many financing problems.
Supply but not enough demand.
