An animation industry legend is bowing out. IGN reports prolific director Andrea Romano is retiring after nearly 30 years.
Romano has directed more than 1,000 episodes of TV shows, including such classics as Animaniacs, Batman: The Animated Series, DuckTales, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. She has also served as a voice actor on series like Tiny Toon Adventures, Justice League, and Teen Titans.
In a statement, Romano explained that she’s retiring because optic neuropathy has caused blindness in one of her eyes.
From Romano:
“I shall miss so many aspects of this industry – particularly the people I’ve worked alongside, and all the fun that happens on both side of the glass. From the bottom of my heart, I extend my sincere gratitude to every actor, producer, director, engineer and colleague that has helped make this run so incredible.”
Doing this job, working with all these wonderful people, has been my ultimate blessing. I couldn’t have hoped to spend the past three decades with a better group. I’ve truly been the luckiest person on Earth.”
What do you think? Are you a fan of the shows Romano has worked on? What’s your favorite?
