AMC is headed back to the badlands. Today, the network announced it has renewed its new series, Into the Badlands, for a second season.
Season one of the martial arts drama ended in December.
Created by Al Gough and Miles Millar, Into the Badlands stars Daniel Wu as Sunny, a skilled warrior who travels a futuristic feudal landscape in search of enlightenment. Marton Csokas, Orla Brady, Sarah Bolger, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Oliver Stark, Madeleine Mantock, and Alexia Ioannides also star.
The renewal is not that surprising. Even though the new series received only fair ratings during its first season, the series was primed for a season two renewal back at the Television Critics Association press tour in January.

What do you think? Did you watch season one of Into the Badlands? Would you watch a second season?
Love this show, Please keep it
Into The Badlands is one the best written, acted, & produced show’s on cable TV today! Bravo AMC. Al Gough is a genius. Daniel & Emily work perfectly off one another. I can’t wait to see what “The Widow” has in store for us this season?
Can not wait for 2017. It’s about time it got renewed. Yeah!
As I keep pointing out, cable networks now almost automatically renew every show. Apparently it help the executives that ordered the flops stay on (the owners seemingly don’t seem to check actual ratings and are happy their new shows are “hits” – they know they’re “hits” because they’ve been renewed).
And so another flop gets a needless second season siphoning off money better used elsewhere.
Badlands is a great show and it is very refreshing with its originality! I love the show it’s fantastic
