It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Very disappointed Battle Creek was cancelled. It was a good show!
I liked it. It’s in my top 10 shows. Disappointed that it has been cancelled. I figured since in the last episodes everything was being revealed……..Russ and Holly and the past of Milt. It’s too bad.
I am so disappointed that “Battlecreek” has been cancelled. It was just reaching its stride. Why they wouldn’t try a second season with some more publicity. Dribble airs for years; it is just sad. No wonder Netflix and Amazon are enjoying success. They have discretion!
Hate this show was cancelled. What are you people thinking. Making room for another ridiculous reality show !!!
This is a very entertaining show and I look forward to watching. It was getting better and better with each episode. Guess the network is always seeking instant gratification. Bring it back!
Really enjoyed the show. It was in the wrong time/day slot. I hate it when shows are cancelled without input from viewers.
Why oh why does the world revolve around the 18 to 49 year old demographic. I really don’t understand. Battle Creek was a great show and only getting better . Dean Winter was great in the part. Sad, funny and maddening all at once. First of all Sunday night at 10pm is the kiss of death. Missed so many episodes of the mentalist due to football.
Note to writers. Anyone with a good premise for a show go to an off channel or 8 pm on a Fri or Sat. The 18-49 year olds are out .
Please don’t cancel Battle Creek. It did start out slow but, it has become much stronger as the season progressed. We love the characters and the story line. Please reconsider!
I’m done investing any more time in a TV. CBS did it again by canceling both Battlereek and Stalker. Two great shows!
Banality wins, Quality loses. Here’s a thought. How about a website where networks can poll the real folks, the folks who actually buy the products sponsoring the shows and therefore actually pay the network executive salaries and the show budgets, the folks who faithfully watch and gradually involve with the characters and the plot lines, only to be mercilessly cut off just as things were getting very interesting – poll us to get our thoughts before the execution on whether cancelling a quality tv series is really what we – the viewers who make the networks viable – what we… Read more »
Disappointed. We really enjoyed watching it but probably we are not the right demographic, 50+ for CBS to care. This is the 3rd show that we have liked and they have all been cancelled. Maybe TNT will pick it up.
I am SO mad that Battle Creek has been canceled. It was the one show on TV that my whole family would watch together. Teenagers are tough to get to sit & watch with their parents. This is very disappointing. I’m sure it will be replaced with yet another dumb reality show!
Hate that it has been canceled. Watched it from beginning. Wished they would give it another chance.
big mistake cancelling a great show. it appears that the audience that you are looking for
would love another “guns and buns” show like the uber ridiculous Five O series.
Love!
