It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
Loved the show. My husband and I really sad it was canceled. Wish network would have change of heart.
Me and my wife love this show. How ridiculous is it to remove a good show but leave many other stupid shows on. Remove NCIS New Orleans for example, worst show ever. Air Battle Creek on a good time under the week and it will have even better ratings. I really hope some other network picks it up and prove these idiots that it was a big mistake to not continue it.
Really disappointed that Battle Creek was cancelled. Very much enjoyed Dean Winters and Josh Duhamel and the other cast members. Think the show had real potential. Reality TV just doesn’t cut it for me — and Two Broke Girls, Mom, not very funny. I would have been watching from the beginning if I had known Battle Creek existed — I caught them all on On Demand. Also enjoyed About a Boy. Now no reason to watch CBS. Letterman retired, and my latest guilty pleasure, Battle Creek cancelled.
Last 2 shows were awesome! So sorry it didn’t get more of a chance.
Keep NCIS New Orleans with terrible scripts and worse actors. Good job CBS which means Complete Bull…can you figure out the rest? Maybe you should ask a successful network.
We Love the show! Can’t believe it’s cancelled. It’s hard to find good shows anymore with all the stupid reality TV shows.
Recently discovered Battle Creek while trying to find something to replace the worn out menu at 10pm Sunday night. Went back to the beginning of BC to catch up and found myself laughing out loud and identifying with a few of the characters. Love the show. Need to give it a little time for watchers to discover it. We deserve a little fun and drama!!!
My husband and I love this show. But we also love About a Boy, Perception and whole bunch of other shows they cancelled. I suppose this leaves another spot for another reality show of a group of people backstabbing each other on a desert island!!
What a shame. Another good show cancelled by idiots. Put this show on a different night, like Wednesday when there is nothing good to watch, it would probably do well. A little bit of advertising wouldn’t hurt either. Same thing happened to Unforgettable….a great show cancelled after its first season. At least give shows a longer timeframe to decide!
Bull****! I can’t believe they cancel this show…which is amazing!…and keep such stupid shows like Big Brother, 2 Broke Girls, Mom, and Mike and Molly! And as I am writing this, there’s another commercial for Big Brother on TV, the most pointless and ridiculous show on this network. This is probably the 10th time I’ve seen it in the past few hours. Why couldn’t you give this kind of air time for Battle Creek? CBS needs to take good look at all comments and viewers who so wholeheartedly disagree with this decision. There is so much advertisement out there for… Read more »
Love show!!!!!
I really loved this show. So sad it was canceled. Hope someone picks it up And promotes it.
Yes the show started slow but the last few weeks have gotten good. CBS needs to give this show a real chance to grow. We don’t need any more reality shows. So disappointed.
I am so pleased to read that others feel as I do. CBS, seriously, does every show have to be a major hit? What about fare that invites the type of “give it a chance” loyalty? From the “getgo”, smart, well-written, edgy-enough, and accessible. I watch 3 shows – Elementary, The Mindy Project, and Battle Creek. Anyone (network, website, whatever) who picks up the latter two, you’ve got me for LIFE! Unbelievable!
Ditto on the previous comments that are disappointed in canceling this series before it had a chance to get going. Great cast. The story line was just starting to get interesting.
