It appears that Battle Creek has lost the ratings war. The low-rated Sunday night police series has been cancelled by CBS.
Battle Creek revolves around two mismatched law enforcement officers — Detective Russ Agnew (Dean Winters) and FBI Special Agent Milton Chamberlain (Josh Duhamel) — who have polar opposite views of the world and end up being partners. The rest of the cast includes Janet McTeer, Kal Penn, Aubrey Dollar, and Edward Fordham Jr.
The show debuted on March 1st to a disappointing 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 7.92 million viewers. The numbers got even worse in later weeks and has fallen to lows of a 0.7 demo rating and fewer than six million viewers.
Those numbers aren’t good enough for CBS to order a second season so they’ve now cancelled it.
There are four unaired episodes remaining and the last installment is currently scheduled to air on May 24th.
What do you think? Do you like the Battle Creek TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
This is a smart subtle and funny show. There are very few good shows on anymore.
Ray Donovan, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead get it. There is a reason the millenials are leaving tv for netflix…lack of good programming.
I was so disappointed when I heard Battle Creek ended. I fell in love with this show since the first episode. It should get a second chance. I really hope they will continue with the second season… maybe not now, but I will wait for it.
Wow. What a disappointment!! I had just found this show and really, really liked it. My husband had just started watching it, then POOF! It was gone. Yet, there is so much crap tv on. Who is making these decisions???
I love Battle Creek. Interesting and quirky characters. Interesting, convoluted story lines. I wish a cable channel would pick it up. Ratings don’t necessarily tell the whole story. I will miss this show. CBS has some good shows but now they are one short. I wish they had cancelled Scorpion. Now That’s a stupid show. No offense, but it is.
We loved it,don’t cancel
I am so sorry to learn Battle Creek has been cancelled…it had a good cast, and was stuck in a difficult time spot. Hope they will reconsider.
Such a disappointment to have such a well written and casted show not given a chance. Tells the story of why network programming is not resonating with so many of us.
saw first episode two days ago, watched the whole season now. Loved it.
got sad when it was cancelled. was a fresh breath in crime series, no high tech all that crap
One of the better shows on tv these days and it’s being cancelled? Why? Great story lines, good chemistry and interesting plots. There was so much home town feel to it. Very disappointed that the show was cancelled but other shows of much lower quality stay on the air… Good job CBS, great research department you have there…
We were shocked that the show was cancelled.
We loved it. The storyline was clever and the characters were well defined. Hopefully they will find another venue, like TNT or USA for it. There are not enough programs with humor and intelligent plot structure. Bring it back!
Loved this show. Very original and creative. The people who canceled the show must be complete fools.
What a great show. It figures it would be cancelled. There really is nothing left with any taste to watch on TV anymore. Oh well Battle Creek you kept my interest while you lasted
we very much enjoy Josh Duhamel and always look for him ever since we got hooked on Vegas. Of course we were thrilled to see Mayhem without him hanging off cars and committing other insurable acts. We are hoping and praying that Dean will follow the Jonah Hill footprint and enjoy a very visible career we can all enjoy. Battle Creek cast seemed to gel nicely. Sorry to see it go.
I truly enjoyed watching Battle Creek but felt that it was Airedin a bad time slot
I am so very disappointed that Battle Creek has been cancelled! I loved the chemistry between Russ and Milt, as well as the rest of the cast. I never understood the ratings war, but there goes another great show, like The Mentalist, gone too soon. Very disappointing!
