Crime drama Breakout Kings is being renewed for a second season A&E reports Deadline. Production is expected to begin later this year and season two could begin airing as early as the first quarter of 2012.
The series stars Laz Alonso and Domenick Lombardozzi as a pair of United States Marshals who make deals with prisoners to catch escaped convicts. In exchange for their help, the prisoners see their sentences reduced and are transferred to a minimum security facility. If they try to escape, they’re returned to their original prisons and their sentences are doubled. Others in the cast include Brooke Nevin, Malcolm Goodwin, Serinda Swan, Jimmi Simpson.
The March premiere of Breakout Kings set a record with the highest 18-49 demo rating for a drama on the cable channel with 1.5 million adults 18-49 years old and 2.8 million total viewers.
The third episode featured the return of Theodore “T-Bag” Bagwell (Robert Knepper), a popular character from FOX’s Prison Break series.

Recently discovered this show.Watched all shows from season one online to catch up. Great show hope it continues for another season
I do not like the show. Same writers with Prison break but nothing compared to PB. The episode with T-bag was like a gift after months without PB. I hope they cancel this show and start over PB. It has been 3 years, we still wait for PB’s new seasons. Paul Scheuring, please hear us!
I like this show. It adds a nice twist on the escape and capturstyrene. But, the writers and producers really need to research, catch up, and get more authentic with the way cons and inmates are actually incarcerated, handcuffed, transported, given packages and letters that are x-rayed or opened, rules for physical contact with visitors, the protocol for approval of visitors, the real use of firearms in prisons only from gun towers and the actual use of batons, contraband not allowed inside cells, etc. It is my humble opinion that more realism–which would also depict the prison officers and officials… Read more »
I love the show but I am so disappointed that Laz Alonzo was killed off the show. WHY??? I really don’t know if I’ll watch the show as faithfully as I did before. It seems like when there’s a very good show on they just can’t let it be and let the viewers enjoy the characters and the stories before they start killing off people or canceling a show. I’ve been trying to find out why Laz was killed off,not an around the way answer, just a straight answer please. Thank-you
[…] Last March, Breakout Kings debuted to an A&E record-breaker — a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.8 million viewers overall. The numbers had come down quite a bit by the finale (0.8 in the demo with 2.01 million) but the season’s performance was still good enough for A&E to give Breakout Kings a second season. […]

I personally am very happy that the “Breakout Kings” is coming back for a second season. I really enjoyed watching the show as does my 19 year old daughter. I do think that the episodes could be better written. Some of the stuff from the first season’s episodes were a little far fetched. But, I’m sure that the writers will write better episodes for the second season. You know, make some of the stuff that happens more believable. If they can pull off better written episodes I think this show could last for several more seasons. I hope so because… Read more »

Glad and suprised it got renewed! Seems the sort of thing that might get cancelled after season 2 though
I watched it. It wasn’t as good as The glades, but it was still above decent. I’m glad it got renewed.
