Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Y would u cancel a wholesome show I have been looking forward to season 4 now there is’nt any
I loved the show and just googled to see when season 4 was starting up and was shocked to read the news!! I’m so very disappointed. It sure seemed worthy of another season, especially given how much garbage is still making it out there. This show was entertaining for me without me feeling like I was compromising my values to watch it. Please reconsider!!
wow why ????????????????? why do they take off all the good shows that actually have a story line, which does not involve some spolied rich people’s lives? It seems like all of the mindless people who are only interested in those stupid reality shows always win when the shows are picked to continue, well some of us would rather watch shows like cedar cove. besides we were left hanging, not nice !
Would you consider a two-hour wrap-up show?
I wud rather see the series return as an ongoing production for viewers to continue enjoying!!!
So disappointed in Hallmark. You left us hanging. A courtesy to your viewers would have been to properly end the show. Not sure I want to watch your other series in case you do the same thing again.
Devastated cedar cove won’t be returning for a 4th season. Read the entire series & loved it. Even planning a trip to Pacific Northwest to visit “Cedar Cove”. Hope they reconsider.
O
I’m so disappointed that Cedar Cove is not coming back for season 4!
I always look forward to watching it in the summer, when nothing else is on.
Please bring it back for at least one more season, if it must end, have a happy ending for everyone. Just really loved this show.
So very disappointed. …..I loved this show! There was so much more story to tell!
Loved the show. Would like it to return.
Please bring it back! Such a great show!
Why doesn’t Hallmark sell the rights to Cedar Cove to another company who is willing to develop a season 4 and beyond if Hallmark has no faith in this series and cares so little about losing Hallmark Channel viewers to other channels? That way Hallmark can get more of the almighty dollar at whose altar it worships and fans can get to watch their favorite show on another channel. It’s a win-win!
Bring back Cedar Cove! It is a great show with great acting and great story lines. Hallmark, how can you treat your inaugural scripted show this way? You didn’t advertise it enough that’s why the audience didn’t build. And you hid it during the doldrums of summer. Cedar Cove has the potential of another Mad Men, which took a while to get noticed, too. Please bring back Cedar Cove.
I am so disappointed that Cedar Cove is not returning. This was a wonderful show. The whole reason I love watching the Hallmark channel is because you create shows that families can watch and enjoy together. It’s a shame that your loyal viewers don’t get a vote. I really wish you would reconsider your decision.
I’m so disappointed Cedar Cove was canceled! I looked forward to watching it . It’s hard to understand how some shows are still running that couldn’t hold a candle to cedar Cove
