Jennifer Love Hewitt may have left Criminal Minds this year but the show will be back. CBS has renewed the venerable series for an 11th season on the network.
Criminal Minds continues to follow the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) out of Quantico. In addition to Hewitt, this season’s cast included Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, A.J. Cook, Matthew Gray Gubler, Kirsten Vangsness, and Joe Mantegna.
In season six, Criminal Minds has been averaging a 2.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.31 million viewers. Year-to-year, that’s down by 14% in the demo and down by 5% in viewership.
That’s obviously not a good trend for the ratings but it’s important to remember that most of the network’s shows are down as well. Plus, Criminal Minds is CBS’ third highest-rated dramatic series so it wasn’t in any danger of being cancelled.
Word is that negotiations are underway with some of the castmembers and the studio is looking for ways to trim the budget. One way or another, the show will be back next season.

I would be crushed if any of the long term cast left criminal minds. JJ would be the easiest casualty. I wish Prentiss would return. If they are trying to cut budget though, that seems unlikely. One of the greatest things about criminal minds is the core group that has remained season after season. I love this show and am relieved it is renewed!

I would love to see Emily Prentiss brought. She was by far the best Brunette team member.

Love criminal minds. One of the best shows on TV. Great cast. Good chemistry.

Criminal Minds brought me back to watching TV.
I was in an accident 12/31/2014. My neck was broke… (C2). I was home bound for 3 months and now I record all shows , I really love this series. And the team works!!!

Well one way they could increase viewership and profits would be to open up the online service to other countries than USA. I get that there’re regions where they’ve licensed the series to TV stations, however, in plenty of countries it is impossible to watch the newest episodes legally because none of the local TV stations are interested in picking it up. Want to watch the show? Well wait for the DVD release which won’t be in HD.
Just open the platform to those who are in countries without a regional license.
As I’ve said before my husband & I love CriminalMinds & all CBS crime shows. We watch all the NCIS’s with my favorite being LA. We watch all the reruns of CSI Miami & New York, too on USA network. But get rid of any of regular cast, like AJ Cook & we won’t be watching it. It’s a unique cast. Just don’t replace JL Hewitt & tjere’s you’re extra money. Jennifer love- Hewitt’s character should be replaced with the return of Emily. All of the other characters should remain…..the show would not be the same without JJ, Penelope or Morgan. Love Shemar Moore
