A couple years ago, NBC aired Crusoe, an adventure series based on the classic Robinson Crusoe novel and character. It was quickly cancelled. Now, the network is trying Crossbones, another adventure series about the same era. Will this one be a success and be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled as well? We’ll have to wait and see.
Crossbones revolves around the life of Edward Teach (John Malkovich), better known as Blackbeard the pirate, and his desire to aquire a valuable invention called the longitude chronometer. Others in the cast are Yasmine Al Massri, Richard Coyle, Claire Foy, David Hoflin, Tracy Ifeachor, and Chris Perfetti.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
Final season averages: 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.68 million total viewers.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Crossbones TV show? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for second season?
Love the banter between Jen and RD. Considering it’s a pirate show, don’t you think there will be some throat cutting RD?
One can not decide on a show being good or bad after only 2 shows. I usually give it 3-4 by then you know how it will go. Also, since there’s not much on now… Very seldom one can tell if it’s a bomb in “their” opinion but then they may not like the subject matter that much.
Oh, Jennifer! You cut me to the quick with your aloofness. Yes, seeing some guy getting his throat cut isn’t my favorite thing to do. As to “Revolution’s” popularity, there are scores of complaints on this site for its cancellation (only one from me). By the way I’ve dipped my “toe” in my share of cable (and honey), and I personally don’t care for graphic violence. You know in your heart that too much violence on TV is to feed patrons’ desire (or need) for same. And you also know that one reason networks offer for cancelling shows is the… Read more »
The expense of this show has absolutely nothing to do with its quality or its perceived “graphic” nature. HBO has lavished millions of dollars on Game of Thrones but that show is utter garbage. Money can’t buy quality. I still find it somewhat odd that you find this show “graphic” in nature. If you think anything on network television is too graphic you must never dip your toe into the world that is cable. As for Revolution being cancelled, while you apparently were a massive fan of that show, obviously others were not or it wouldn’t have been cancelled. NBC… Read more »
Very clever show, may be too smart for some viewers, who won’t get it. I hope it’s not cancelled, because it has very great potential and a super cast. But this is NBC, and they never give anything a real chance anymore. Guess that’s why they don’t have many shows that gain a steady audience…
Too graphic? Yes for my taste! But then again all those “America’s Got Talent” type shows are “too graphic” & too stupid. I did like the 17th century ships in “Crossbones”, however. And I still say why cancel “Revolution” & then bring on a period piece? Namely, “Crossbones”? Those sets, ships, costumes and John Malkovich all have to be expensive. Why not another mindless, cheap-to-produce “American Idle” type show? Huh?
Too graphic? Really? If you want graphic, watch Game of Thrones. That takes graphic to an entirely new, and particularly awful, level. I’ve watched both episodes of Crossbones and, while it isn’t the most remarkable show on television, I have greatly enjoyed both shows. The cast is very good and the story is holding my interest quite well. I watched and loved Black Sails and I think it’s wrong to compare Crossbones to Black Sails. They are two completely different shows dealing with different characters. They are both about pirates but that doesn’t make them copies of one another, IMO.… Read more »
Didn’t watch 2nd week because 1st show too graphic. But NBC dropped “Revolution” & picked up this?! Seriously, Dudes, what were you thinking?
For God’s sake, they took off the classy and beautiful Dracula, a superb show, and put this? Some networks don’t have a clue about what people want.
Was not planning to watch, but did. Was the only show I watched Friday night that was on the networks. Not the best, but I’ll watch another hour to see what happens.
Horrible show. If you want to see a pirate show, Black Sails is actually a good show.
Huge fan of Malkovich and will watch anything he is in. Best actor in my opinion to play evil characters. I liked the show very much, i think that they didnt overdo anything, it was just enough. I hope that it stays, i dont see why it should be cancelled seeing how its just a summer show. Everything else has ended due to season finales, so please let this show play out, i like to see where it goes and not just because there is nothing else to watch, i do enjoy it.
I did see this show- This week! I WILL NOT BE SEEING ANOTHER ONE!! Sorry! You Need to Take Show Off Air!
I do like the story, as I hadn’t heard of this invention associated with blackbeard. The acting is superb but I couldn’t watch the bloodbath!! A little goes a very long way! I’ll watch it next week and I’m glad it has an end to it. I don’t like series that go on so long that they end up silly and/or boring.
Because this invention was never associated with blackbeard, but funded by a huge prize from the british government.
Love love love. Who can be more evil than John Malkovich and sex boyle. Violence no more than most on t. V. Now. Arrgh!
OK story line, but just a bit too much graphic violence for me
