After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that CSI: Miami has been cancelled? Will you miss the show? Was it time for it end or would you have liked to have seen an 11th season?

seriously…what are they thinking?saying Maimi had dropped 5% in viewership ?well LV had a drop of 8.4%!!It’s the only one that i didnt follow all the episodes…why renew it instead of Maimi?
Good, CSI Miami has been steadily going downhill for ages now, various characters have left and it’s very bitty. Cannot personally stand Carusso, glad him and his sunglasses will be gone soon. It’s a very hit and miss show, you can see that they have to keep going back to the crime scene every 5 minutes because they’ve new evidence that points to something not being picked up first time around, very amateurish, professional criminologists would do a clean sweep of the place once collect everything, take photographs, and then let the crime scene cleaners in, sometimes it appears that… Read more »
accually it does happen in real life i’ve seen it for real where the real csi have to go back to the scene of the crime as theres new evidence and takes a lot longer before the crime scene cleaners come in thats in real life so the storylines have been good in creating a murder scene and carusso is the best aswelland anyway half of u doctors dont even know what u are taking bout just try to parm every1 off with medision without even doing tests thats why people are worse off and get second maybe third appoinions
will miss it best police program going better than anything we can do in the uk
One more thing, let Caruso leave for New York or Las Vegas… Why not?
yeah thats a great idea xx
This is the worst, Miami is one of the best of the three NY the worst, and it still have most of the original character’s in the show. How is CBS thinking, it would be better cancelling NY, I don’t follow NY every episode anymore because I think it have been worse, Miami I kept a close look on since start, the worst season is half of season one but as soon as they got rid of Delaney it became much better, I never liked Kim. CSI Lv I miss Grissom, I still like the show, and William is still… Read more »
yeah i agree with u on everythink u just said x
u’d have thought it wud be NY given the way that season ended, lets hope asome of the characters end up in ny or lv
it’s unfair. this is by far the most action packed of all 3 csi shows. las vegas has just picked up again. i like miami and new york more. bring miami back!!!
the worst move they ever made was to cancel CSI Miami. All other shows are crap.
I think that no matter what show they put in the 10 o’clock slot on Sunday will not make it. it is unfair to cancel a show that has to compete with football. When a show that is to start at 10, starts a 10:30 or later, of course the ratings will nose dive. Keep CSI Miami and put it on another night. If not, we should all boycott CBS.
Csi Miami , No way !! Its the Superb… Horatio caine is the man … And aft Grissom has gone from csi , it became dull,….., Csi NY is okay not bad… i dont feel on removing any of the series … if at all remove csi alone … if at all,can one thing b done ? , better stop shooting one season ,nxt time stop one and continue the other 2 , nxt stop one continue the other 2….
This has ben my favorite show since its inception.. I am so disappointed that its gone. For what? CSI:NY? really…And CSI; Las Vegas has become comedic…CSI MIAMI lost its groove for a season or two, but they came back so strong this year that i was amazed…can they actually change their minds and renew? or is it too late?
Out of the 3 CSI series, Miami was my favorit, so to see that being cancelled, when they could hade cancelled eg. CSI New York is sad.
But i also agree with JQ_Malaysia they shouldn’t hade cancelled any of the 3 CSI series. They are all fantastic, and i don’t see them as 3 series, but 1 big series.
Should not cancelled any of the CSI series…..I love them all…..
it was too soon there are some others things that had to be uncoverd im still waitng for h to kill mono
Please continue Miami. It is the best. Cancel Las Vegas if you have
