After 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.
Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.
The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season 10 averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season nine by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).
While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.
Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:
CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.

Why are they cancelling CSI Miami it was one of the best CSI programes. I felt as though Horatio and his team were a family. They could have given more info on the background of the CSI’s. It was fast and slick always plenty excitement and great storylines. I will miss it so much. I hated when it came to the end of the series. Please change your mind and bring it back. Please please please.
I can’t believe they have cancelled CSI MIAMI it was one of the best CSI programes. The cast were a family and the stories were exciting. There was always plenty of action from Horatio and his team. I will really miss it. Why don’t they listen to what the viewers want.
Why do you have to end it? It was indeed a nice show. I all have the copy of every season.. Why still post this if you won’t listen to us? Useless isn’t it? Common… Bring it back.. I’m sure many of us would like to watch it for a lifetime… Sorry to say but I find CSI LAS VEGAS boring and I much prefer MIAMI..
No one listens to what WE want…..you have to be between 18-49 to count. I guess us old folks don’t spend enough money to do the advertisers any good….LOL!!
I love CSI Miami and I’m really going to miss this show. I made sure to be home and in front of the TV every Sunday night.
why cancel it i dont believe them when they say the ratings have dropped it think one of the csi’s had to go and miami lost but its a mistake all of the team are brilliant and horatio a legend our loss
I think that this was a really bad decision on CBS.The best show ever and you guys just threw it down the drain.The original should have been the one to go because I just can’t believe that they could have possibly been getting more rating than Miami that’s ********. I guess I must find another favorite channel because CBS is not it any more

actors are all so great in the parts they play. Why not get rid of half of the awful reality shows on T.V. that have no substance whatsoever and keep a great series with great stories. So disappointed this has been cancelled – bring it back.

Omg noo…ive been watching this show for 8 years now. Its always been the most amazing show ever, with such a talented cast! I really hope CBS do renew.. Maybe in a year. I cant stand to turn on the TV sunday night and not see Horatio in his classy sunglasses. :'( ❤

i cant believe that csi miami is being canceled i love the show and love the casts aswell nnever miss a show tho i do have to wait till it comes on channel 5 as i dont have cbs but i really look farward for the show when its on and am gonna be really disappointed that its not gonna be on anymore and i really hope they dont kill anyone off either as that will be disappointing and hope that they do make more like the csi las vagas and csi ny its not time for the show to… Read more »
I just hope that they can still change their minds and bring back csi miami, maybe not this year but maybe, just maybe next year… It’s one of the best tv shows, can’t believe they cancelled it. So sad.
