We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

The csi shows are all I ever watch on tv anymore. I hate reality shows, they just don’t grab my interest. I watched ALL the csi’s until you started moving their time slots and when Grisom left the show I was very disapointed. But I think if you cancel any one of them I won’t watch tv anymore and I just love Gary Sinise.
please dont cancel csi: ny best show on tv
I don’t want them to cancel any of the CSI shows. I wish they would get rid of all the reality shows, and the new version of Two and a Half Men!
I agree…it would be very disappointing to drop ANY of the CSIs. They each have their own flavor…Miami is a gorgeous backdrop behind David Caruso’s posturings, Vegas has picked up with Ted Danson (Yum!) and, hopefully/perhaps Elizabeth Shue in a continuing role? And NY is my fave…never been there, but live there every Fri. with CSI & Blue Bloods (I call it my w/e in NY). Literally HALF of my TV watching is the 3 CSIs.. (the other 3: Mentalist, Person of Interest & The Good Wife.) Yes, drop the reality shows. I turn off the PROMOS for them, they… Read more »
I Love CSI NY. I think it should be renewed. I was so disappointed when it did’t come 2-17-2012. I love all the CSI shows. PLEASE don’t cancel it.
Don’t cancel CSI: NY I will be extremely pissed if you cancel any of the CSI programs. It’s bad enough that you cancel other shows in the first season I have gotta into you cancel this one you will lose ne as a viewer of CBS. Perhaps you could cut all the dumb ass reality shows and move CSI : NY back to a better timeslot
I would hate to see this series end. It is one of my favorite shows. Keep this series !!!!
I’d like to see the show renewed for at least one more season. I find the scripts each week to still be varied and interesting. The chemistry between cast members on all three CSI versions is fun to watch and most entertaining. I’m a comitted fan.
CSI New York is my favorite of the three shows. It will greatly missed if it canceled.NCIS and CSI New York are my two favorite shows .
Keep CSI NY and CSI Las Vegas. CSI Miami can go as far as I’m concerned.
So disappointed if they end “CSI: New York” this year..hope they run it another year. Really enjoy the show and think it’s bettter than the other CSI’s. “CSI: New York” has such a great cast!!
(a fan from Washington State)
the rating system is unfair.all age groups should be counted.
dont cancel csi,csi miami,csi ny
they are the best on tv
I will be extremely upset if they cancel any of the CSI programs. It’s bad enough that football extends into CSI Miami’s timeslot and I was surprised when all I saw on my tv guide were rerun episodes from 2006 on in the mornings. CBS has built a network of good dramas and crime shows. Getting rid of any of them would be terrible and cause them to lose viewers, myself included. Perhaps they could cut some of the reality shows instead of shows that have a long history and loyal viewers. This will be a big mistake should they… Read more »
CSI NY is soooo much better than the other two csi’s, the stories, acting, we wait for Fri. to watch CSI NY & Blue Bloods. Move NY to a better TIME SLOT, and get rid of all the REALITY Shows! They make no sense. No entertainment, acting or story line.
