We’ve received several emails from readers who love CSI: NY and are worried that it’s been cancelled. Will the show ever return? The simple answer is, “Yes, it’s on hiatus until March 30th.” But, while the TV series hasn’t been canned yet, Gary Sinise and company could certainly be in their final season.
It’s no secret that the ratings have declined over the years and that’s probably one of the reasons that CBS moved it to a Friday night timeslot. It still brings in a respectable 10 million viewers each week but is one of the network’s worst performer in the prized 18-49 demographic, even when you adjust for the Friday timeslot. Year-to-year, the show is also down by 7% in the demo.
At the recent TCA press tour, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler noted that, though she loves the CSI shows, “Nothing runs forever. How you handle it, the most important thing is how you respect your audience, how you respect your cast, and being incredibly sensitive to how you wrap up any show when it ends a successful run. But we are in those talking stages now (about how to end the CSIs).”
It’s unlikely that CBS will end all three CSI series this year but they could certainly drop one or two of them. Based on the ratings, the New York version would be first in line to be cancelled.
What do you think? Is this the last season of CSI: NY? Should the series be cancelled or renewed for one more season?

LEAVE CSI NY ALONE. It is the only show on t.v. that I look forward to each week!! NOT EVERYBODY LIKES COMEDIES OR REALITY SHOWS.
Of all the CSI shows, NY is my favorite with Miami being my least favorite. My number one bone of contention is the fact that the networks continually play hide-and-seek with all of the shows. I get all set up on my line-up and WHAM, the shows I watch (I record mostly), are gone and some other lame show is in its place. No, I have to hunt to try & find out where the show I liked was moved to, or if it is even still out there! I realize that space needs to be made for the new… Read more »
Please do not cancel csi new york it is our favorite. So many shows have been cancelled that we love and we just dont understand. It seems that everytime we like a show it is taken off. Why are so many reality shows on and more coming i dont understand. We do not watch these uninteresting shows what is becoming of our tv shows?
If there is a CSI to be cancelled, let it be the Vegas one. LEAVE NY alone!!!! The cast is perfect together, and the show is wonderful. Please keep NY!!!!!
I LIKE ALL THE CSI’S, TAKE OFF THESE LOSER ONES LIKE MIKE AND MOLLY. MONDAY NIGHT SHOWS ON CBS ARE NTO WORTH A ****. I HAVE TO GO AND WATCH MSNBC ALL EVENING UNTIL HAWIAII FIVE O COMES ON. THEN I WATCH THE NEWS AND DAVID LETTERMAN AND GO TO BED. TUESDAY NIGHTS ARE GOOD. I MOSTLY WATCH CBS BECAUSE THEY HAD GOOD SHOWS ON, NOW TTHERE COMEDY SHOWS SUCH. I WILL NOT WATCH THEN. LEAVE THE CSI’S ON AND CANCEL SOME OF THOSE STUPID ONES THAT YOU PUT IN THERE PLACE LAST YEAR, THEY AREN’T WORTH THE PRICE I… Read more »
If any CSI gets cancelled, I think it should be the Miami one, I love the NY one and would miss it very much. The original one has gone through so many personnel changes that it too could get cancelled as far as I am concerned.
Please don’t cancel CSI NY, because so far it’s the best CSI spinoff I’ve ever seen. They still have to developing some characters’ life, such as Jo, Hawkes, even Adam and Sid. It’s okay if they take Vegas or Miami off because they already have more than nine seasons, but please don’t take New York off, it still too young to be canceled. So please, please, DON’T CANCEL CSI NEW YORK, I LOVED THIS SHOW SO MUCH!!!
I am a faithful CSI New York viewer and it breaks my heart to hear that the show may be cancelled. My Friday nights are planned around CSI New York and it has not been the same since my show is not on at this time. For those of us that love the show, please don’t cancel the show.
Thank you
If they think the need is there to cancel one of the CSI’s let them get rid of the CSI Miami!! NY is one of my favorites and comes second to the original with the addition of Ted Danson this year. I agree with others… these reality shows are bothersome… I have to wonder how much reality is in them anyway.
CSI New York need to be put on during the week, not on friday nights. The network needs to leave all the CSI shows alone. All the good shows get canceled. The ones that I don’t like stay on the air, good wife, big bang theory, anything like that needs to be canceled.I hate comedy shows.I also hate shows like Survior, any type of shows like it,should get canceled.
PLEASE DON’T CANCEL CSI NY ONE OF THE FEW STILL GOOD.. TAKE CSI
VEGAS OFF AND PUT CSI NY IT’S PLACE…THEY’RE RUNNING OUT OF GOOD PLOTS FOR LAS VEGAS CSI..BORING!
My husband and I enjoy CSI New York. Do not cancel the show. We love having it in the Friday lineup.
CSI New York is the ONLY one I still watch. The other series have just TOO much reality and not enough of the science that goes into building the case that has to stand up in court.
PLEASE do not cancel my favorite CSI!
CSI New York has a cast that works well together. Leave the show on 1 time slot stop moving it around.
Please leave CSI NEW YORK on, don’t cancell it. We love the show and the cast. It is one of the best shows on tv. Gary Sinise and the whole crew are so good together.
I to0 despise the cornocupia of “reality” shows that are all over TV these days. I watch a number of CBS dramas; CSI, CSI: NY, NCIS, Blue Bloods and Hawaii 5-0, but have never watched Survivor, The Amazing Race or any of the others on the various networks. What I watch is mostly dramas with a little Sci-Fi thown in when available.
