It looks like the fight to save the Dallas TV show is over — at least for now. After TNT cancelled the revival series after three seasons, fans rallied to save Dallas and studio Warner Horizon worked to find a new home. The latter’s efforts have come up empty.
Executive producer Cynthia Cidre and director Michael Robin released a joint statement to DallasDecoder to share the bad news:
Hi Friends,
Well, we have come to the end. After a 6-week attempt to try and land our beloved “Dallas” at another network, we have to inform you that we have not succeeded. Warner Horizon has attempted, in a Herculean way, to try and find us a new home, but at the end of the day it did not work out.
We so appreciate the outpouring of support by all of you, and the #SaveDallas campaign was a truly remarkable undertaking. We cannot fully express how much we loved making this show for you and with you. We had 3 wonderful years together, and we had the times of our lives bringing this iconic show back to television. Thank you for your support; thank you for your loyalty to our wonderful characters; and thank you for watching our show.
We wish you all our very best, and thank you again for loving “Dallas.”
With great admiration and appreciation,
Cynthia Cidre and Michael Robin
The new Dallas ran for three seasons on TNT and ended with several cliffhangers. Hopefully, Cidre and Robin will share what they had in mind for season four at some point.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Dallas won’t be returning for a fourth season? Would you like to see the Ewings come back some day?
Please don’t cancel Dallas, so forward to looking for season 4, I am a very huge fan old the classic Dallas and the new Dallas. All the cast in both the past and present are wonderful actors and actresses, again very UPSET.
I thought the renewal was a done deal. Expected Dallas to return in January 2015. I am shocked and so very disappointed. Dallas is the absolute best series on TV. PLEASE listen to the fans and BRING IT BACK!!!! I am hooked on it and can not believe TNT has not renewed. They were lucky to have gotten this mega hit. I had no idea the show was cancelled and I am sure most fans are still not aware. TNT was doing quite well with it’s new shows up against CBS, NBC, etc. DALLAS WAS AND IS THE NUMER 1… Read more »
Please Patrick Duffy, and Linda Grey, don’t give up on finding a new home for our much loved Dallas!!..I watched it from the beginning in 1970’s until now, and the show is better now than ever!…I know someone out there will pick up this show. They have to!…Look at all the sorry shows on now, Duck hillbilly show on A&E!..It is the worse program ever, but there they are on every night, when Dallas can’t find someone smart smart enough to realize the truth!..We need this program on our TV! Saying it is cancelled means giving up, so keep trying… Read more »
TNT…wake up…this show is better than the earlier one and has a following. Let’s take some of the ridiculous reality shows off TV and get down to some good entertainment like Dallas. What is wrong with you people? You are just proving good things don’t last.
This is a shame. Hopefully someone out there who knows the right people will pick this show up. Numbers and money…that’s what it’s all about! Since that was the only show I watched basically on TNT, guess I don’t have to turn it on anymore. Sad 🙁
I totally agree. Take off most of the garbage that runs on television today. Bring back Dallas and keep it on air. Be smart.
Why cant the producers if DALLAS try and get it on Netflix or some channel similar to that.
I think TNT messed up. They should have looked at the crappy time it was on, and reality shows suck. What we cant have a good Drama. Sorry to say I keep Direct just get shows like this I really don’t have a need when they cancel good programming for stupid reality shows.
Or constant reruns of programs that are still on. So TNT you suck get back Dallas.
please bring back dallas, may be cbs will picked it up, it a great show, people really did it enjoy.
Please bring Dallas back
I would like for you to bring Dallas back
So sad and mad Dallas is gone. We were so happy to have it back and be able to enjoy television again. I guess people are more into mindless reality shows then shows of substance. How sad for us who do not care what housewives and Kardashians are up to. I guess TNT doesn’t know a good thing when they see it.
Dallas was an excellent series. The reason it so-called failed in ratings is the time slot it was in. How can it compete with Monday night sports? Everyone doesn’t have a DVR. I guess the ones making the big decisions don’t take into account how much the show means to the older generation that grew up on shows like Dallas , Knott’s landing, Dynasty etc…, At least try to finish it. Don’t just leave everyone hanging. Any ending is better than none at all.
We are so so so sad that Dallas is finished …..we ask please please please please bring it back for a 4th season in 2015 …..we miss it so much…..Dallas has been a part of our lives ….its just the greatest on earth ….please bring it back …please please ….
I was so looking forward to the new season. And I’m heartbroken that it is canceled. Why is it when a channel gets a great series they cancel them because of rateings. People don’t want to get hooked on a series like Dallas to only have it canceled.
i am so tired of all the reality tv shows that are on in the evening. i looked forward to monday nights when i could watch some real drama. the story lines were soo good and some were real funny. i use to watch dallas back in the day too. keep trying to find a home for the show. there are a lot of die hard fans out there who will watch it.
I LOVED this show but gave up watching it because I gave up cable. If it was on the regular networks or Netflix or Amazon Prime….I would definitely be watching it. I’m so sad they are cancelling such a great show.
My wife and I love this show and hope it returns
What an incredibly ignorant decision. I just don’t understand why one of the major networks wouldn’t pick this show up. Many people don’t have the cable channels and the viewership would soar on a major network. I’m so sick and tired of the 18 to 45 demographic being the decision maker for networks. There are just as many 46 and over aged viewers that watch television and the networks are idiots not to consider this demographic. I actually didn’t watch the original faithfully but with DVR capabilities now I was at least able to record this one and watch it… Read more »
Doubtless Channel 5 here in the UK did not help by moving the new Dallas through various timeslots without a thought or consideration to the Dallas fan base in Britain.
As echoced by many postings here and elsewhere, we sincerely hope that a new home can be found and Dallas continues. Whatever, the cast and crew gave us 3 terrific seasons and have left us wanting more; please KEEP DALLAS ALIVE!
Please reconsider. Its so much better than the trash on main steam TV . l ha the reality TV. A true fan for years.
I agree!
