It looks like the fight to save the Dallas TV show is over — at least for now. After TNT cancelled the revival series after three seasons, fans rallied to save Dallas and studio Warner Horizon worked to find a new home. The latter’s efforts have come up empty.
Executive producer Cynthia Cidre and director Michael Robin released a joint statement to DallasDecoder to share the bad news:
Hi Friends,
Well, we have come to the end. After a 6-week attempt to try and land our beloved “Dallas” at another network, we have to inform you that we have not succeeded. Warner Horizon has attempted, in a Herculean way, to try and find us a new home, but at the end of the day it did not work out.
We so appreciate the outpouring of support by all of you, and the #SaveDallas campaign was a truly remarkable undertaking. We cannot fully express how much we loved making this show for you and with you. We had 3 wonderful years together, and we had the times of our lives bringing this iconic show back to television. Thank you for your support; thank you for your loyalty to our wonderful characters; and thank you for watching our show.
We wish you all our very best, and thank you again for loving “Dallas.”
With great admiration and appreciation,
Cynthia Cidre and Michael Robin
The new Dallas ran for three seasons on TNT and ended with several cliffhangers. Hopefully, Cidre and Robin will share what they had in mind for season four at some point.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Dallas won’t be returning for a fourth season? Would you like to see the Ewings come back some day?
Had gotten so raunchy I am not surprised.
I am very sorry to see it go. When I lived in Dallas in the 70’s I worked in the building that they shot the office scenes. It was great. I so hope you bring it back. I’m glad Larry Hagman got to be on Dallas again.
I wish someone.. ANYONE can point us to WHO TO WRITE/CALL to find another network to put Dallas back on. I watched the original series with my grandma, (and falcon crest) and when this came back, just hearing the opening music, always gave me goosebumps.. SOMEONE HAS TO PICK THIS UP.. What happened to Christopher… is John Ross really going to turn into JR? COME. ON.
Yes I would like to know also who we could contact to bring back Dallas. I also watched the old shows and was so happy they brought it back. It’s kinda nostalgic but those old shows were what you looked forward to watching every week. We need to find a way to get Dallas on the air somewhere.
Let Netflix produce it
There are so many of us that want the show. i wonder if there is something in the mix to have it come back somewhere. Hopefully it will come back.. Its a shame we never got to see a finale if it was going to be taken off. We have all been waiting for the continuation of the last episode we saw. I still cant believe some other shows are still on that are terrible and this one was taken off. Very sad and disappointed…
I am so disappointed! I could not believe it when I found out that Dallas had been cancelled! I live in London, UK and I am a dedicated Dallas Fan, having watched the Original show since 1979 right through to it’s end. when I heard it was to be re made I was over the moon! Watching the New Show was Heaven! Being back at Southfork with all the Familiar characters and exciting new ones! It was as good and entertaining as the Original. I think the Ratings dropped because sadly Larry Hagman passed away, but I’m sure they would… Read more »
Now why would TNT do that? It is a great show and not a boring moment. Big mistake. There should at least be a series final.
PLEASE BRING BACK DALLAS!!!!!!
Try the OWN Network!!!
TRY the OWN network to pick up Dallas!!
Very disappointed to say the least. I honestly never turn the TV on because of the crap that is being shown these days. It was the only TV show that I would record and watch. I even got my 20 some year old hooked on it. She’ll be as unhappy as I am. Hopefully something will work out, but I won’t hold my breath. Seems like all the networks either want some stupid (non)reality show or off-the-wall sporting event.
Can’t believe TNT and other cable channels, an excellent series is resurrected and then Baam! It’s cancelled. I was a huge fan of the original series and the new series is just as good. Will some other channel PLEASE pick up Dallas, hate to see such a great show not get its do. There are a lot of other bad shows that should be cancelled and they are not.
I just don’t get it. There’s really nothing like Dallas on TV today. It will probably be replaced with another crime solving show, like we need any more of them. I looked forward to every episode and will truly miss it. Let’s hope someone will pick it up. I’ll never understand what shows make it and what ones don’t. I look at the top shows and think, why are these shows so popular and I could care less about most of them.
As a worker by day, and a caregiver in the evening for a husband with dementia, tv is my only source of entertainment. I never missed a show during the 3 short seasons. I also never missed the old Dallas. 3 seasons was just a tease. I was hoping to be able to enjoy watching Dallas again for many seasons to come. I am extremely disappointed, to say the least. It’s just so wrong to end it with no warning or suitable end. I guarantee if anyone would pick it up they would have a lot of loyal watchers. Try… Read more »
The only program I would watch on a steady basis.
Soooooo disappointed. Watched Dallas back in the day and loved having the show come back Finally a show my husband and I could enjoy as we are in our 50’s and not entertained with much of the new programs. Pleeeeessse bring back Dallas.
